My photo in default messaging app

My girlfriend just upgraded from an S4 to S5. In the default messaging app, beside things she sends it is always showing her profile pic from Google+. Is there a way to make it show the profile pic from the "Me" contact instead? Her S4 didn't do this and she wants to be able to use a photo stored on her phone that is not on Google+. I have done some research on this and I cannot figure it out.

Unlink the S5 from Google+. IIRC, you have to use a PC and go to the Google+ webpage to configure all of the options. Can't do all of it from the phone.

That is what I had to do. I do not allow Google+ to keep a copy of my contacts because of the way it mishandles a lot of things. like privacy.... once it is on their servers you have lost control of your privacy...
