My Pixel 4a shipped.

For those coming from a 3A, is there a significant difference in speed? or anything else that stands out from the 3A (besides the physical appearance).

I have a 3A XL and while I love it for its battery size, it is quite uncomfortable to walk with in a pocket and I'm thinking of downsizing. The 3A XL has been my first phablet phone so going for a smaller device again is not an issue for me.

I'm just wondering if there is significant reason to upgrade to the 4A. I don't need to hold out for the 5 or 4A 5G as I don't need a flagship anymore nor do I require 5G.
The increase in storage and slightly faster processor.

I left Verizon a long time ago because of issues like this.
I know it's not always possible but, if it is, change carriers and be happier.

So far the issue doesn't appear to be with Verizon but with the phone itself. Google's got my big report and will get back to me soon.

As I said above, right now my options are Verizon and AT&T. Both are pretty much the same from a business standpoint and how they treat their customers. In my home area, AT&T has much poorer coverage, in fact that could be said for the entire state. Currently T-Mobile is about 30-40 miles from my home, and it's been that was for a few years, so it doesn't look like that will change anytime soon. Any MVNOs will use either Verizon's or AT&It's network. About the only viable one here is StraighTalk, and their customer service is far worse than Verizon, so there really isn't much I can do. People seem to forget that in many places, there are only one or two carriers to choose from, unlike many major metros.

FedEx is killing me. My 4a sat on a truck in Countryside, IL for almost two days. Now it's been sitting in Chicago hub for a full day. Tracking still says scheduled delivery for today, but usually by this time of day it shows as on truck for delivery. Hoping it magically shows up today. Next time I'm not going to be cheap and settle for the free shipping.

it's a crap shoot. I did the free shipping andgot it very quickly.

Update: Google had me do a FDR and still no activation. They also wanted me to try and put a non Verizon SIM card in and see if that would activate, but I don't have access to one of them.

I don't really know what else it could be other than the device itself. Both my original SIM and the newer one Verizon sent me worked just fine in my old phone, but once I put it into the 4a, nothing. Cannot be activated.

So she's going to talk to the higher-ups to see what the next step is. The only thing left that I can see is to send out a replacement.

I would say replacement is the only solution.

I would agree, but so far nothing's been what you'd expect. This is literally the only phone I've ever had that wouldn't activate. I've had other issues before, but never anything like this.

I'd say it was maybe the SIM reader was bad, but the Verizon techs can see it from their end. The phone just won't take the next step. The only other thing I noticed, between my 4a and my Pixel 3 is that the SIM card kind of snaps into the SIM tray on the 3, where it's loose on the 4a's tray. But that shouldn't make a difference.

Well, they sent me a link to order a new 4a & a label to return my old one. Supposed to be delivered next Tuesday. So hopefully the next one goes off without a hitch.

I'm loving a lot about this phone.
The size is perfect. Smaller (more pocketable) than my 3a but has a larger screen.
More storage. 128gb is perfect for me.
Speedy.
A winner.

My 3a is up for sale on the forums if anyone is interested.

That's awesome! So glad you are liking it! Good luck selling your Pixel 3! I imagine it will sell well! The 3 line is still pretty in-demand.

Got my 4a today, 3 days earlier than expected. Popped in my SIM card and it activated in 3 seconds. That's compared to about a minute trying to activate and then failing multiple times. So I believe the issue was definitely the phone.

Haven't gotten around to calling anyone yet or using it out of the house, but will post if it's an issue.

Sounds like the setup is going well so far! Glad it arrived earlier than expected, too! Yes, please keep us posted if any issues develop! :)

You said you just put 8n your SIM card by yourself? Does that mean I could do the same? I have a Pixel XL and the battery is not keeping up. So I've got an order in for a 4a. (No arrival date so far, drat.)

According to Verizon you should call them and have them do it. I'd never had to before, and others on here have also said they just move it from one to the other with no issues. Unless yours has the same issue mine did, you should be fine. Just remember to power devices down before you remove or insert SIM cards.

Thanks. I'll wait until I get mine and then decide.
My previous experience, when I went to Verizon from AT&T was that the guy in the store did a total Backup of my phone's data then a Restore into the new one. Handy to do but Paranoia Pete says "what are _they_ going to do with access to my data?"

When you get the phone, it'll ask if you want to copy data & settings from your old phone during setup. You use the included data cable and it can copy pretty much anything.
