I just wanted to do a recap of my Froyo experiece. First. Never rooted, no roms, no atk, etc... Yes. I have done resets and followed the sticky instructions. Overall, I am really disappointed with the release. Listed are a handful of things that I encounter regularly (good/bad). Truth is I was happy with 2.1 and feel 2.2 was a downgrade.

Bugs:
  • Wifi will not auto connect. I manually connect it but if often drops connection after a while. I have gone through the forums and tried tons of stuff but no luck. No problems in 2.1.
  • Text message bug is annoying.
  • Notifications are spotty. Sometimes they work and sometimes not. This really bugs me.
  • Market is inconsistent with apps
  • Voice is not as good. I switched from the Evo for better voice.
  • My 3g speeds are slower. (This could be many things ... not necessary a bug). Based on my speed tests 3g is almost half in the places I test most often. ... now read first bullet again ... grrr
  • The dialer has lag. Answering calls, dialing numbers, hanging up. Touch and beep don't match. Yes .. I use my Dx as a phone.

Non-bug annoyances:
  • The calendar is hard to read. The blue on white look. Items are no longer color coded by calendar month view
  • Green buttons on dialer
  • I do not see an increase in speed. :(
  • Contact icon pictures smaller .. still slow to load pictures.
  • Still too many non-essential items running ... and non-removable bloat.

Good Stuff:
  • Camera is way better!
  • Alarm and Ringers are louder! Thank goodness!
  • Docking/Undocking screen refresh is much faster
  • Contact icon quick links are nice
  • Battery is about the same for me ... I say that is good ... since it is not worse :)

It's funny how much different every persons experience is from the Same upgrade. I had alot of lag and random reboots after the upgrade. I also had the browser crashing and force closing. I was stuck with the dreaded battery pull. It felt like I was back on my BB. Last night I used the instructions for the clean factory reset. Sobfar it has been going much better but time will tell. I also haven't noticed a huge speed increase but I thought the phone wad plenty fast on 2.1.

I totally agree. It is really interesting how different the upgrades went. I also agree that the phone is plenty fast on 2.1 and 2.2. I listed it because I was expecting some more umpf with all the JIT talk etc..

I am not dissatisfied with the speed though. Maybe I will got through the reset process in the sticky again and see what happens.

To be totally honest ... the only two things that really bug me are the wi-fi issue and the inconsistent notification icons. I can live with the rest .. but plan on keep trying to fix those two.
