My thinking is this, (I have not had any hands on with this device yet) I think this is a major advancement in mobility technology and I believe there will be much activity with this type of device. This being a gen 1 iteration there will be flaws and growing pains. to Me it seems like a very advanced bit of tech, it also has some of the fragility of old school PDA/pre-capacitive screen based phones. I still want to see one and decide how i feel about it.
Cheers,
BR
I played with one in an ATT store last night and almost pulled the trigger but I'm gonna wait until it is in peoples hands for a few weeks or maybe a couple months and see what issues arise. I did not expect to come away as impressed as I was. I was expecting the screen to be super soft and fragile and to have some give kind of like the touch resistive displays of devices like the early HTC smartphones and the Nokia N900 and it was not like that at all. I loaded up a game and played it and it was very responsive to light touch. While the screen is noticeably not glass it did not have any give unless you try to push hard (which I did not). My main concern is not with how the screen will hold up but more about how much dust and dirt may make its way into the device. I also don't see myself buying a device with no water resistance now that most mid tier and above smartphones have even slight water resistance. That said, I'm a tech addict and may end up with one in my hand in a few weeks if no major issues arise with the reviewers and early adopters.
