My S10 display looks washed out and dull.

Re: I liked the colors better on my s7. Any way to make colors more saturated or more vivid on s10?

I was super excited to upgrade from the s7 edge to the s10. I have heard great things about the camera so i was excited about that the most. However, I must say i am disappointed in the galaxy s10 colors.

The phone looks extremely washed out compared to my s7. Not just the camera but just viewing anything on the phone. Icons, photos, background. I have the display set to vivid, not natural (natural looks even more washed) and it's also on the highest resolution.

I have heard that the s10 tries to stick to more "natural colors" compared to older saturated versions of the galaxy but i don't find that this looks anymore realistic, just dull. If i'd take a photo of nature or a sunset on my s7, the colors popped and reflected what my eyes were seeing. I can take a photo of a bright yellow and orange sunset with this and it looks so bland in comparison to what i am seeing.

Does anyone know any other tricks or is this just a live with it sort of thing? If so, it's disappointing. I can use a photo editor to saturate photos more if i want to do that to every single photo i take, but I can do nothing to change the view of everything else on my phone.

My prior phone was an S8 and I had adaptive display. If I tilted it around 20 degrees, instantly it would turn blue. No longer an issue. This S10 screen is the sh**.

A few people keep saying it's more natural but no the sky does not look washed out like it does in my photos on the S10. It looks unnatural because of how washed out it is. The s7 at least had that color pop the actual sky or scenery does. But i guess ill take the "its natural you have to get used to it" answers as no, there isn't anything that can be done with the s10 to make the colors more vivid like they appear in real life lol. Sucks but it is what it is i guess. I like the phone anyway but less than impressed with this camera.

When I compare my S10+ side by side with my Note 9. Note 8 and XS Max, the screen on the S10+ looks dull. Take the other phones away and it looks good.

No camera actually takes photos as true to life as our eyes see it. That's why photographers always edit their pics. Pics are always taken lower contrast and saturation, especially RAW photos.

You can try in accessibility settings see if any adjustments there might work better for you

Thank you, I confirm that this solution worked for me !

Coming from a Note 8, I was so disappointed with the screen display of my S10. Everything was washed out and disturbing, maybe it's a matter of habits, but I couldn't get used to it.

I tried several display modes, but none was really convincing: "Natural" was, as said, totally dull and "Vivid" was way to exaggerated, even with the coolest temperature, or with the different settings that you suggested here.

Then I found the accessibility parameters, tried to play with it, and the result is absolutely satisfying. My screen is now displaying the colors exactly the way how I want to see them, and I'm so happy with it!

Would recommend anybody having a problem with the screen color to give this a try. (Note that this calibration will deactivate the Display Mode and Blue Light Filter settings, but this is logical for me)

Attaching some screenshots below to show you how to get there (sorry it's in French, but pretty easy to guess and follow I believe )

Then play the small "game" placing the colored balls, save it and see the difference !

I upgraded from s10e to s10, they put on soft screen saver. looks like crap. s10e was clearer. I regret upgrading.

For those that use vivid there is another adjustment I normally make . It can be accessed via the phone dialer. Enter *#15987# Screenshot_20190514-114414_DeviceKeystring.jpg

I did notice the washout colors on several S10s but some actually don't have the same issue. My colors are fantastic on mine without any adjustments but my girlfriend one is washed out. we first noticed while using instagram

I remember when I upgraded my note 8 to a note 9, the note 9 looked less as sharp and less bright. But it was normal.

I bought a Galaxy S10 yesterday, after my old Note 3, which I loved, suddenly died on me. To add insult to the injury of losing thousands of texts, plus dozens of photos and videos, some of which had great sentimental value, I didnt notice the flat, washed-out display on the S10 until I got home. I was furious and almost marched back to T-Mobile to return it. However, after reading some of the helpful posts on this thread, I was able to match the colors on my old Note 3. However, I don't think there's anything I can do about the low-contrast display and the resulting flatness. If anyone has suggestions, I'm all ears. Below is a screenshot of the combination, using the color adjustment feature, that worked for me.

The S10's display is set to Natural by default. Don't know what your mean by washed out but I'm glad you found something that works for you. Welcome to the forums by the by.

Thanks for the welcome. Washed-out was the wrong descriptor. I meant that it lacks the saturation and contrast of my old Note 3 display. I guess I'll just have to get used to this new "natural" display.

You don't have to get used to anything actually. Go into your display settings. You'll have your vivid display back.

I tried vivid when I first played around with the phone, but I wasn't happy with the results. If I could add vivid to my personalized color settings, that would be great, but I can't use the vivid option unless I cancel my personalized color.

UPDATE: I tried vivid display again, and the colors looked pale and desaturated. Maybe I'm missing a step somewhere in there, but color adjustment has worked best so far.

UPDATE 2: Turning on the blue-light filter and setting the opacity slider all the way to the left yielded colors/display even closer to my old Note 3. I think I'll stick with that set-up for now.
