My S6 Edge is not updating 5.1.1

Hey all,

I just got the S6 Edge, SM-G925F, and I noticed that places have reported that the update has been out for a while. Mine however, is still on 5.0.2 and I have tried to update it through the settings. Is there an issue I am not aware of? I have tried factory resetting the phone.

Where are you from and who's your carrier/service provider?
You've mentioned that you tried to update it through the settings? When checking for an update, is there one available or do you get a 'The latest updates have already been installed' ? If you do have the 'latest' updates, your service provider hasn't released it yet.

The phone is unlocked and therefore does not have a carrier, shouldn't I have already gotten the update. It keeps saying I have lastest updates even though i only have 5.0.2

What do you mean you don't have a carrier? Through whom do you have your network?
They are responsible to send an update through their network to you.
iow, you get your updates from your cellular network company, not android.
If you're adamant to upgrade to 5.1.1, you can do it yourself by downloading it from this link:
Firmware for Samsung SM-G925F - SamMobile
Also install ODIN on your pc.
Google is your friend. It's not too difficult.

Gustx, no missing much, did it on my S5, and phone went crazy, now my carrier is blaming Samsung, #blametmo

Unlocked international phones get updates directly from Samsung.

i'm facing the same issue with mine although mine is the G925I version . factory unlocked _ it says i have the latest updates even though I know 5.1.1 is out . any help ?

I don't have the update and I called samsung, they told me to go to their experience shop in best buy. The lady there plugged it into their computer and downloaded the update( supposedly) but when I checked the Android version at home, it said still 5.0.2... Bruh.

The weird thing is that i did see the phone screen show the updating icon and on my drive home it was optimizing the apps

Had that problem with AT&T version. After four unsuccessful attempts, I wiped my phone. Then the update went through successfully. Having to reload and log into apps again was a pain, but the benefits of 5.1.1 have been worth it. I'm 50 miles away from the nearest Best Buy, so at least this didn't cost me anything but time!
