My Samsung A5 makes all calls with speaker on, why can't I turn it off?

my samsung a5 makes all calls with speaker on. cant turn off

every call made or received since last update starts with the speaker on - cant find where to change this option (tried talkback etc). also ring volume seems to adjust itself down on its own, so missing calls etc

Welcome to Android Central! Go to Settings>Accessibility​. Any options there turned on?

thanks - have looked, there are no accessibility options enabled at all. I have also started in safe mode to disable apps but speaker is still on every call

That sounds pretty abnormal. Try using Kies to reinstall the firmware. Or use Odin: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...w-flash-stock-rom-via-odin-new-interface.html. Find the correct firmware here: Firmwares - SamMobile

If you don't want to fiddle with it yourself, bring it to your nearest Best Buy, and ask the Samsung rep there to reflash the firmware.
