My Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 suddenly went to a black screen with the word Samsung in white

Did not drop it or anything else. Was using it earlier without issue. But picked it up and now it just shows all all black screen but has the word samsung in white in middle of screen. It is fully charged. But does nothing else. It doesn't sleep either. Help me!

Can you hold down the power button for like 5 seconds and see if it reboots?

Makes no difference. I can hold it in and it flashes like its going to reboot. I can also eventually get it to turn off. But that is it. I have the sound on silent so I have no idea if the sound is working. I did push the power button and the up volume button at same time and it went to a different screen. But I didn't know what to do there so I exited out of it. LOL

the power + volume down should get you to the screen where you can factory reset. If you have your data backed up maybe you can try that.

Have you held the power button down for like 10 seconds? also try plugging in the charger and holding the power button down for 10 seconds.

I KNOW how frustrating this must be, having just gone thru a bit of an adventure myself..

Hope you can get it booted back up.

Maybe some one else has more ideas to try..

I have held the power button down with and with out the charger. I tried holding down the power button and down volume and choosing reboot. It didn't do anything. I was afraid to try anything else listed.

Holding the volume down + the power button takes you to the "recovery menu". As dianehelen has stated, this is where you can factory reset the device. You can also clear/wipe the cache partition. Try wiping the cache partition and then rebooting the tablet. If that doesn't work, and you still don't want to factory reset yet, the last option before a factory reset, is to disassemble the tablet and disconnect/reconnect the battery connector. This will do the same thing as a battery pull on devices that have removable batteries... and sometimes this step is necessary depending on the problem. Basically, it will reset the tablet without losing data... hopefully! No guarantees, so hopefully you were smart enough to do periodic back ups or have a cloud backup somewhere. Just disconnect the cable, leave it out for a few seconds, and plug it back in. Then power on the tablet to make sure it powers on. If it works, and the tablet boots back up to normal, turn it off and reassemble the tablet.

Just so you know, I had to do this battery connector pull on my 10.1 2014 tablet when nothing else I tried would power up my tablet. I didn't lose any data and the tablet has been working fine ever since. It's the curse of embedded batteries!

With your tablet in the state it's in, a factory reset is your best hope. If that doesn't work, and the battery connector pull doesn't work, then you're hosed and might need to reflash of the OS (which will also wipe data off the device). Either way, you need to take more action than just pressing on power and volume buttons.

May be a bit of a challenge opening up the case without the cool little tool that comes with the new battery in that video. I did get that exact battery, and have been very happy with its performance. But even with the tool, getting it opened was the hardest part (for my husband, the hardware guy, Im the software tech )

For stuff like this, guitar picks... like Fender thins... work the best. Even better than the tool that comes with the battery. Been using guitar picks from the days of 1st generation ipod minis. They're replacement batteries came with the same tool!
