my screen is blank

I have a galaxy s3 from Metro Pcs and my screen is blank.......everything else lights up and it vibrates fine......can someone plz help with info as to why and how can i fix it myself if i can.

How long have you had the phone? Did anything happen to it before this, i.e. dropped, got wet, etc.?
