My speech to text quit working I have described my problem below

My speech to text has quit working about 2 months ago. Tried deleting app. And reinstalled it... still will not work. I also tried installing other speech to text..they will not work either.
My tablet is an Acer my program is 4.4.4 what is the next step I can try....I really miss it..please help

Welcome to Android Central! Which Acer tablet? I'm not sure how the system settings menu is set up on an old device like that, so it may help to know the exact model. That way I can search on the web more accurately.

I have a samsung galaxy s7 phone with the same issue. Android version is 7.0. I don't know which app to reinstall, so I have not tried that yet.

When I try to use the speech-to-text facility trying to write a note or send a text message, the speech to text facility automatically turns off. If I try to turn it back on again, it just turns off again. It will not stay running.

Any help with this is appreciated. Thanks.

I finally discovered my problem - I had not turned on permission for google to record when I was speaking into the microphone. Once I turned that on, the speech to text facility is working well.
