I had it on standby for 1 hour from the last time I used it, but when I try to use it again, the screen remains blank, in sleep mode. See pic. Pressing the power button and the virtual home button doesn't work. The blue led light is blinking. I then switched to my Note4 typing this thread. Any help? Thanks.

Hold the power button down for 10-15 seconds to fully power down the phone, release the power button, wait about 5 seconds, then hold it down again until the phone powers on.

I've had to do that already too, but I had to hold the volume down button with the power button to restart it. Just warning you, It may happen again and the culprit is probably a 3rd party app.

Thanks. I repeated your instructions 5 times, no luck. Shall I just let the battery drain completely, then recharge it, and power it back on? No one else has this issue?

How long ha e You had it, and is it unlocked or thru a carrier? Just curious if maybe anyone else has issues that they're from a similar batch or group? Mines been great since Sept 7. Tmobile

Did you try what I posted?
I had the same problem with my S8+ on more than one occasion and had to do the volume down power Button and hold both together for maybe 5 seconds or so and it would reboot. Mine was doing the same thing yours is, Led would flash, I'd get my notification sound but the screen would not come on until I did what I said above.

I pre-ordered it through samsung.com, received it on September 13th, a T-Mobile variant. It's a beautiful phone. I just tried the same instructions one more time, still no luck.

Just try mine one time, I don't think just holding the power button will do it add the volume down button to it.....

You guys rock! That did the trick, with the volume button. I was worried, ha. Hopefully it's not a 3rd party app, cuz it'll be a pain to find out which. Besides, all the same apps I use on my Note4 for over 2 years now, but no issues.

Just courious did you do a clean install when you set your phone up or something like smartswitch and just copied everything over?

I think it is, I want about to go through all my apps to find out but it didn't happen daily, but I knew I was getting the Note 8 so I held off returning it but TMobile help desk mentioned it was probably a app. I've had to do it on this phone once already so I guess I need to back track and find which one may be causing it. Glad I could help so now if it does do it again no need to panic, just reset it and try and find the app because who ever your carrier is they will want you to hard reset and I'd rather do the soft one any day over the hard reset.

I used the smart switch, but if you have auto update on in Google Play is going to update everything anyway. But this is the first time everything installed correctly from Smart Switch, I usually have to redo a few things after it finishes.

I used smartswitch from Note4 to Note8. Should I not have?
I don't think you did anything wrong I feel just in my opinion and I know very little but I just know from going from one phone to the other sometimes you'll run into glitches but as far as your apps I don't think Note 4 to the Note 8 made any difference itself except Maybe one individual app could have caused it

I used Smart Switch also but I was coming from an S8+. If I was coming from the Note 4, I would have done a fresh install.
