My wife dropped her phone in water, and now messages won't send. What should we do?

My wife dropped her phone in water.

We did pulled the battery, card etc... placed it in rice. After a few days put it back together and everything worked except the phone shows full bars for receptions but it will only send/receive message once in a while, sometime it will take 3 days for the message to go, sometime less than a few seconds but most time it just won't go. Any ideas?

At this point I would recommend you bring it into your carrier and have them fix it or look at it.
