I just bought a brand new Mytouch 4G (unlocked) from ebay about a month ago. Everything was working fine until recently I began having trouble with the power button. Basically it doesn't work. I press it but I can neither lock my screen nor can I cut the phone off. I tried to contact HTC about this issue but they claimed my phone was out of warranty (even though I bought it brand new). Of course they said that they'd "gladly" fix it for like $70 or $80 (which I don't want to pay). However the lady did tell me that I could get an app for a new power button. When I searched for power button apps I realized that most of them required a rooted phone which I do not have and I really failed fully grasp the concept of what rooting means. But I did find a simple app called "Lights Off" that did not require me to root my phone and it worked nicely. But there is one problem with this app though. I can only lock my screen with it. I have to keep my phone on a charger or at least near a one most of the day because I fear what will happen if my phone ever cuts off. I just wanted to know if anybody is aware of an app that let's you turn your phone on and off or some sort of fix to this problem. I'm trying to avoid having to pay any money.

Thanks
