n00b to Android has questions...

OK, this is freaking ed. Using ES File Explorer I can peruse the directories and see the files and pics just fine. The file structure is

/sdcard/DCIM/100BURST
and
/sdcard/DCIM/100MEDIA

Now when I hok up to my PC (Win7, 64-bit) and select on the phone file transfer mode, I can see the phone get mounted. I can see that the mount point is /sdcard as my root directory on the PC is the /sdcard/ directory. So far as good. However, when I go 1 folder deeper, stuff stops working. From /sdcard/ I can cd into /DCIM/, but there is nothing in there (well, windows sees nothing, ES Explorer still does). I can cd into any of the other directories off of the root, and it's all the same - they look like those directories under /sdcard/ are all completely empty. Double-check on the phe w/ ES File explorer... nope, everything looks just fine...

So now I'm going to have to play with pairing my laptop and phone via bluetooth. This is just so stupid. As much as i *hate* iTunes and Apple's setup, transferring photos was dead easy, even for 3rd party apps like iPhone Explorer. Plug it in, make a couple of clicks, and done.

Maybe try navigating to the /sdcard/ext_sdcard/ and see if they are there. If I remember correctly that is actual "card" that you would buy at a store. Samsung is a little confusing about file structure. Perhaps you tried to and I misunderstood your post. Internal=sdcard
External=ext_sd

Sounds like there is something wrong with that folder. I would copy the contents of DCIM with your file explorer, and paste them into a separate directory on sdcard. Downloads for example. Then Delete DCIM with file explorer, open up the cam and take a picture. It should recreate the folder structure. Plug in and see if you can see them from your PC again.

If you drill down into other folders from your PC, can you see the files in there?

This should work as simply as when you plug in a USB flash drive, using the same interface. Don't get all hyped up... yet :).

I was able to copy all of the pics. Only problem is all of the pics are thumbnail sized. WTF? I know that if I post them on FB or email them to myself they are not thumbnail sized.... (facepalm)
