N4 Camera seems much better then advertised.

no I don't (and wouldn't buy) have one. HDR camera, zoomFX seem to be favorites

Well if that was one of your deal killers, you are going to be disappointed I am sorry to say.

THe only "fix" is going to be download a different camera app from the market. The hardware is good, the app is ok but there are better

I always use Camera Zoom Fx anyway. It's a phone. If it captures a reasonably good pic then I will be happy.

Camera 360 is also pretty good.

It's pretty good generally for me and takes really awesome shots outside. Inside and lowlight is better than the GNex, but still a bit off. It is better than the newest iPod Touch camera in all conditions I've tried, but the focusing can be finicky.

yeah I knwo it is just a phone and that "it takes them well enough" is fine, it is jsut sad that for years now it has been a bit neglected on the flagship for google

Any recommendations for alternative camera app programs that work well with the N4?

CameraZoomFX is terrific. Though I'm unsure as to what the quality differences will be between the stock camera app and CZFX.
