Naked or Encased?

I just got Otterbox commuter case today, Its very nice and makes the buttons very easy to push. Im also using a Stienheil screen protector.

That is my favorite protective combo on many of my prior phones. Both are outstanding products and the Commuter works especially well on the Maxx.

I've had two Gorilla Glass phones, Galaxy S & Galaxy SII, both of them got scratches on the screen. I'm very gentle with my phones too, it's probably because of the nature of my work to be honest. My point is, Gorilla Glass can get scratched, quite easily.

Doesn't the Maxx have Gorilla Glass 2 or something like that? I thought I read that somewhere, I dunno, I could be making that up.

I won't be getting my Maxx for a little over a week, but I will be rocking a screen protector day 1. My favorite screen protectors, oddly enough, are the cheap ones you find on Amazon & Ebay. They only cost like $1 each and they work and look great. They do scratch fairly easily, but they're cheap enough to where you can replace them once a month. I tried a ZAGG on my Galaxy S and hated it. I couldn't stand the rubbery feel, and worst of all, when you looked at it from an angle, it had a TERRIBLE orange peel like texture to it. So gross.

I have a Thunderbolt, so not really applicable, but in the case of Naked or encased, I rock my phone naked! I also have the extended battery (only way to go with the bolt) so it is a fat one. No more thickness is necessary. Also, I have best buy's warrantee, so anything I do to it, they will replace it. If i get a scratch or dinged up corners, I just take it in and replace it. This one in my pocket right now is number 4-5 since the Bolt came out. (I am kinda accident prone and work on a ship....)

I had a case that I got from Verizon on it for about 2 days before I had to take it off. The problem with cases on the Razr Maxx is that Motorola makes a bunch of accessories and they don't work with a case on the phone. It's impossible to use the car dock with a case on the phone. It will not fut, so I had to go without. I do like the look of the naked phone, but I also miss the security of knowing the phone was protected if dropped.

I like to have a case on. For the times I do drop my phone, that extra rubber helps. Not much but still helps.

I don't have a Razr Maxx but I do have a Bionic and since the purchase I have seen so many Droids that I think in order to set your self apart from the rest of the sheep I would definitely say a case... one as flashy as Rip Taylor or Lady GaGA.

Thats my 2 cents....

...I just did.

I always skin my phones, usually with either Bestskinsever.com or Zagg.com (only if I get a really good coupon) I like the extra peace of mind, and when I sell my phone after I upgrade I just remove the skin and it looks like it just came out of the box.

You'll be happy with the high gloss silicone cover from Verizon. I got one for my regular Razr and it fits nicely. Adds practically no bulk and protected my phone from a 4 foot drop onto tile. Solid choice and no need for a screen protector.

I've carried the same Droid X in my pocket for two years, no scratches on the glass. And I've dropped the phone countless times. the gel case has saved it. What I found a long time ago was that the corners wore out fast so I've used gels for several years. Ordered my Maxx this morning. I'll miss my X but its time for an upgrade.

Just ordered a bestskinsever for mine because that's the only one that will fit in the car dock.

My phone is still naked to this day after close to 3 weeks of use. No body scratches (one small 'scratch' on that shiny piece on the camera/speaker cover, but can't be seen without close scrutiny and might have been there since opening), no screen scratches, and all is well. I did drop it once, but it was more of a tumble down my leg onto the carpeted floor, and wasn't my fault (damn dogs!). My wife did almost force a drop at the movie theater last week by basically shoving her purse in my face while I was using my phone, in order to save a seat next to me. Of course, I got mad, and of course, she refused to apologize as she saw nothing wrong with what she did...but that's another forum topic.

In any event, no case or screen protector for me, and going well so far. Whether that sticks is still not 100% set in stone (the movie theater incident had me looking at cases online that night), but for now, I think I'm good.

I bought the Cruzerlite Androidified case and I freaking love it! I got the white and black and both of them are amazing. Favorite cases i've ever owned and they are 9.99

I bought this phone for the internals not the externals, if my commuter case will absorb some of the shock of a drop and keep the insides safe then I'll gladly sacrifice some of the aesthetics. Plus, the phone still looks good and feels rock solid inside the otterbox.

Does THIS case make it much thicker?

I might consider this..it doesn't APPEAR to be too bulky.

This phone can take on any hit, it's a solid piece of technology.. no real fear if it's naked.

Plus, hardly any cases out there for the phone.. so tough to find one that isnt a huge otterbox.

Just got my Maxx today - had that case waiting for it - it is not bulky at all. I will look for another case later when more are out for it but for now - I get some protection without much thickness.
