Received my S4 GE today after ordering it Monday! I currently have a S4 and have had a Nexus S, Nexus 4 and Nexus 7, and have always enjoyed vanilla android. I had copied all of my photos (about 1150), Music, to a 64GB external SD card. I immediately put the Micro SD card in, put a screen protector on and charged it.
Once I began to set it up it was great to have pure android again. No bloat from AT&T or Samsung is great! I installed Watch On so the IR blaster works, Activated Google Wallet, I installed Camera Zoom FX (bought it when I had my Nexus S) so that I could save my pictures to SD card which the stock camera does not allow. Works great. Videos still go to the internal memory so I installed Astro File Manager so I can move the videos over to the external SD Card also. Ambient (Temp, Humidity, Pressure) and GPS status work well with the S4 Sensors and GPS. I also installed a Hotspot Toggle widget so that I can use the hotspot and it works great. Finally, I installed the AT&T Visual voice mail app and set it up, and it works fine.
Overall it reminds me very much of my Nexus 4 only better! LTE, Bigger 1080p screen, Micro SD card storage, IR Blaster! After reading many reviews I was expecting a noticeable difference is snappiness or zippiness and I must have the worlds fastest touchwiz S4, because I did not notice any difference in snappyiness. Both are fine and very quick.
The one thing that found myself missing was the Samsung keyboard because it has numbers right above the letters on the keyboard and no need to shift to numbers etc.
I did not use any of the smart features on the S4 so I do not really miss any of the touch wiz features. One thing I miss somewhat is all the toggles and the notification screen on touch wiz as it is so much more functional versus vanilla android.
Overall I am happy with my pair of S4's. I will probably switch them out weekly to see how it goes to see if one grows on my more than another. I am looking forward to using the GE S4 and contributing to this forum!
