? NamelessROM

All, I did was remove some apps, fix the build.prop, and the keyboard. I didn't mean to steal your thunder.

So 3g and keys are fixed to our phones now with this zip? Just wanna make sure I read it right.

I just changed the link I posted, but yes, they are fixed. Everything works flawlessly. Although, I should have removed the Roaming Settings. Kind of worthless for us.

(the one I posted a few mins ago still had the key-swap, the new link does not)

SOOOO! How about we get this in a new thread, with roaming settings out & some screenshots :cool:

I didn't do this, but what might also be good is flashing over picasticks' V kernel. This contains picasticks' S kernel. That would of course, switch the keys back again....I really hate this stupid difference between the two phones. Seriously, what multi-million dollar board room meeting took place to decide this?

Please no, not me, no more! I can't start another project. The mods I've made are modest. If anyone wants to pick this up, go right ahead. staticmaal should get all the credit.

Idea for anyone that wants to continue this. Create a "update.zip" that you apply after you flash the normal nameless rom. That way, you can let the nameless group update and release their rom, and you merely flash a compatibility package over it. That might keep the harmony going between us and the S users, as most people don't like their work copied and released with just a few settings changed.

Maby the same meeting that decided that these phones wont support adobe flash light, messed up the OV source code hey they might even be responsible 4 a very VERY late Official gingerbread release lol

We all started that way.

Just take it slow and make notes on what all that you have done.

Lol, okay the main thing i want is to know how to make a theme
I won't go too in depth because doing so will make it too easy, and you need to have an understanding of things and where they are located first before you really start trying to theme a rom and that comes from research.

Basically, with almost no effort anyone can theme a rom. Most parts of a theme is either way beyond or relatively easy for the average person to finish. Take Harmonia for instance, change the statusbar, add your own wallpaper and launcher, and you have a custom themed rom. This can be done in 5 minutes, so why should I offer a theme for it?

For posterity, let's break down themes.
For themes you have the statusbar, wallpaper, animations and the dock. The only hard part is the kernel animation, Android animation and the statusbar. Animations, face it, the kernel animation is out of your hands unless you build or have access to someone who can build you a kernel. The second animation is simple but easy to break stuff (trust me). You can use Kitchen for the statusbar. The Harmonia thread contains statusbars for some of the more popular roms in an easily flashable zip, so that eliminates that obstacle for most people.

Wallapaper is, pretty simple to change the default and is even easier for the user to change.

Boot animations, if you look around, there are plenty, and a few ways to make it easy to install, so again, why include them.

This leaves the dock.
For the dock, Launcher Pro makes it stupid easy to create your own. ADW, Go and Zeam have downloadable themes or themes included. If you want to offer a themed rom, Launcher Pro isn't an option unless you like the default look. ADW and Zeam can be themed and put in a rom though, I believe. The issue is where settings are saved.

Getting an Optimus S rom to work on an Optimus V

For those that want to use an Optimus S rom on their V:

Delete com.sprint.ce.updater-1.apk and Mvpdm.apk from the /system/app folder inside the zip. This will disable the Hands free activation that disables the 3G.

Edit build.prop inside of /system so that all the Sprint References are changed to Virgin Mobile. Also change these two entries to match this:
Code:
ro.build.description=thunderc-user 2.2.1 FRG83 eng.lge.20101213.204043 release-keys
ro.build.fingerprint=VirginMobile/LGE/thunderc/thunderc:2.2.1/FRG83/eng.lge.20101213.204043:user/release-keys
This will fix the market and other issues.

Finally, edit thunder_keypad.kl in the /system/usr/keylayout folder so that key 139 is Home and 102 is Menu. This will fix the keyswap.

You may also need to do these mods to get the Kernel to be 100% compatible: http://forum.androidcentral.com/opt...s/74156-getting-optimus-s-kernels-work-v.html

I just made the original Sprint ROM .zip into a Optimus V port. I also changed the kernel to LGVM670 Picasticks kernel to be better compatible with the Optimus V. Its the same kernel as the S but its built from the V source.

Finally, I just have to flash it and test the ROM and then I can post an official port thread!

thank you thank you thank you!! for making this rom work on my sprint phone. i was losing my hair trying to figure out the 3G issue. only issue i have now with your rom is that swype doesnt work.

it will swype the letters, but wont actually input. Just throws out a generic error sound? Any help?
