native email and gmail icons

hi
when i recieve email i only get notified in notification bar not the email icons like in iphone or blackberry
is there any other way to get notified?
like five new email comes and 5 icon appears on the top of email and gmail icons

Just searched in the android market for "Gmail notifier"

I've used the one above and have never had any problems with it. The only downside is that for this one or any of the other ones available in the left hand column of the "similar apps" they are all going to cost you about a dollar minimum. Good luck.
