Sprint Galaxy S8 Navigation bar

How can I keep the navigation bar showing. When texting it's hard to go back. The little arrow keeps disappearing. I get an arrow pointing down but can't "catch" the go back arrow. The salesman got it for me but now it's not working again.:-

Click the little dot on left hand side of the nav bar

Tapping the dot on the nav bar will toggle it back to showing as normal. Then, I suggest that once you have it back, you turn off that feature. Settings > Display > Navigation bar > Show/hide button. Then you won't toggle it accidentally, as kept happening to me.
