Navigation can't connect to google

getting a can't connect to google error when using navigation via android auto. google maps navigation works ok. gps tracking via android auto works ok as well. android auto on v1.6.281040 and maps on v9.39.2. i vaguely remember android auto asking maps for permission to use. where do i bring that prompt back up? i have a feeling maps isn't allowing android auto to use navigation.

From my experience you would actually have to delete your phone from Android Auto and do the setup process again.

you mean delete the headunit in the android auto app?

edit: just deleted the head unit in the android auto app and connected it back setting up the prompts again. navigation seems to be working ok now, although 95%? voice command to avoid tolls i still get a stuck re-route screen. i also just downloaded some offline maps so i'm not sure if that has to do with the damn thing working now.

edit2: turns out offline maps was the temporary fix. sigh. god damn google. it's always 1 step forward, 2 steps back with them.
