I went to an area recently where I only had 2G. When I left, I was unable to get navigation to work since it was a 2G area and Google Navigation apparently had a problem downloading instructions. Does anyone know how I can get this to work?

You need 3g to search for address, getting direction and rerouting if you lost your route . After that you can switch off 3g and start following navigation
Or
Install offline map application such as co pilot
