Quick question about Google Navigation. Does it speak street names and can you play music while in Nav? I'm getting ready to order my Nexus One but am just trying to get some ideas about the phone and what it can do.

It speaks names through the speakerphone but not over bluetooth.
HAven't tried music at the same time. Calls will take you away from the nav screen but it runs in the background.

Not over bluetooth? That's a bummer, my car stereo has built in bluetooth and I was looking forward to hearing turn directions through my car's speakers.

Ah that's a bummer. I have Bluetooth on my visor that has an FM tranmitter that would have been nice to hear the street names. Rvinny thanks for the quick replies. You've answered all my questions I've posted. How's the speakerphone on it, is it pretty loud?

I'll just preface it by saying it doesn't do Nav over BT in my car (VW) - other models might be different. Having said that, I tried Nav on a Blackberry and it is like 2003 all over again compared to Google Navigation. Nav is still one of the killer apps for this phone.

Hate to break it to you but speakerphone isn't that great either. I can't even use it really and stick with the headphones. Best was Blackberry > iPhone > N1 in that order.

There's a couple of minuses on the Nexus One but it's still a really great device. My favorite so far. Just relaying my user experience and don't want to paint a negative picture.

I appreciate it. I just wanted to get some ideas. I actually ordered it yesterday. Can't wait to get it. I'm really excited and started looking at some of the apps that I want to get for it. I actually came from using Nokia, the N95 and the N97 and Android seems like that but better and more polished. As for the BT, hopefully it works, I have one of the visor speakers so it might but if not it's ok.

if you have any problems w/ BT (or anything else) and you are out of your 14 day window, root the phone and install Cyanogens modded OS. I saw huge improvements in BT performance after that.

Let us know if you can get the Nav audio over bluetooth. I have a nice Pioneer receiver with built in bluetooth and I'd love to use it with Navigation.

I will definitely try the bluetooth. I have the Motorola T505 so hopefully it works. What's the advantage of rooting the phone? I've read many people doing that. I've only had the Nokia's and they are just unlocked.

Great News, I got my Nexus One and went out and connected it to my BT and it works perfect. I tried music, podcasts, and Navigation and they all worked great. The best part is my BT has an FM transmitter built in so I get all that through my car speakers. All this and an amazing phone. I'm definitely loving this phone.

No problem, yeah the T505 is amazing. It's very clear and the FM transmitter works very well. The only thing that's a bummer is that there is no voice dialing. It's a very minor issue and doesn't change how awesome the phone is for me. The T505 supports it but the phone doesn't.

Did you root or just worked on your existing BT? Just curious :) Thanks!
