I ended up getting the Aduro U Grip. $15 and the suction cup is unreal for the price. Vent clips are a no go, my 1999 Audi A4's vents are not strong enough last time I tried using vent clips with my Sirius radio way back when I got the car it fell off all the time at high speed cornering.
I understand why HTC went with a caseless design for there mount, a phone like this was obviously designed to be used with no case. I had two smartphones the Galaxy Fascinate (Aka S1), and Droid Razr M. Both of them made out of plastic bodies didn't far that well against minor bumps and at this point while I hate using cases am going to stick with one.
If you look at the first picture you'll notice a bracket that is labeled A with a sticker, on the official MOTO Droid Razr M mount the mount came with 3 brackets or spacers that allow for a snug fit with a case, with a large case, and without a case.. in a elegant solution that doesn't seem unintuitively designed. I understand there are plenty of universals out there but most of them look rather silly and bulk, the droid razr m one you slide the phone in and clicked the support arm locked the phone in perfectly.
At this time I'll stick with the aduro, I drove around with it today and because it has a short stand from the suction cup to the actual mount it looks good mounted via dash where my old one didn't and because my old one was rather long it didn't stay that well suctioned to the dash. For $15 I am impressed when typically I have yet to see many smartphone accessories worth a **** for under $25. The only issue I noticed with the aduro is the phone shakes more than my old mount, on window or dash mount but this is most likely due to the fact that it doesn't have a physical arm that locks the phone in place like my other, the suction cup is slightly smaller in diameter and I'm riding on uneven rear tires causing a lot of shaking.
