So...I've been using my 1st gen Kindle Fire for 2+ years. It functions...and it's running 4.3 now...but I want something new. Sub $300 range. I was looking at the N10, N7FHD, and Asus TF300. Advice? I can get a 16 GB N10 for $340, a 16 GB FHD for $230, and a 32 GB TF300 for $230. So...thoughts?

Is screen size important? The N10 is good device and something that would work out great. What about the N7 2013? Have you given that though?

I'm thinking either tbe N7 2013 or the Asus. I could root the Asus and slap KitKat on it, as far as that goes. I'm really not sure which one I want...

I'm still happy with my LG G-Pad

I find screen resolution to be the #1 variable in smaller devices.
I was surprised to find as many characters per line in my 7" 6x9 tablet as my 10" 4x3..landscape.
But the newer 7" has far superior resolution (newer device) and EASIER to read....much lighter and easier to carry around.
The 10" is in the drawer and the 7" is my go to device.
I watch Netflix daily on the 7" ... might be a little happier with a 8".

Another variable to consider is OTA updates...usually lacking in low priced devices.
Seems we buy devices these days with fixed life expectancy... 3 years?

Finally my Nexus5 blows me away for performance and resolution.

No root required to get KitKat on the N7 :P

But really, if form factor is not an issue I think the N7 would be perfect. Plus, sounds like OS may be important, and it would be good knowing the N7 will receive a few updates from Google to stay current.

Good point. I think, when I upgrade, I'll get the N7 2013.

Return it if you don't like it

also at WM - N7 32GB $179 - 16GB $119

Hisense Quad Core Processor Tablet, M470BSA - Walmart.com

Note: Sero Pro 7 & N7 have one thing in common ... USB OTG
I believe both require the Nexus Media Importer app to access attached USB storage

Nice case for SP7

So I ended up getting the Venue 8 Pro, but, while it is decent, I miss Android. So, I have to pick something from HP or Dell, and it has to be $300 or less. I was looking at the Slate 7 Extreme. Suggestions?

In the same situation as the OP as I have an old iPad and I'm looking to switch. I may check out the new Lenovo Yoga 10+ HD table when it's released in April

Sending the Venue back, but not sure what to replace it with. Anyone have any experience with the HP S7 Extreme?

Go with the N10. I actually have the Galaxy Note 10.1 2014 and love it. Yes, the car still has bald tires and I canceled cable tv and the wife sleeps with her back to me but the Note 10.1 2014 is an awesome tablet. For the price though, I don't think you can go wrong with the Nexus 10.

I have to choose between a Dell or HP product. Otherwise I would've been set on the N7FHD.

Hi,
Uh I am kinda in the middle of a crisis. I have a 4GB Samsung Tab 2 7.0 P3110 for around 2 years which I absolutely hate because of the less storage space, laggy processor and low ram. Now because of the Android 4.2.2 update it has become even slower!. I can now buy another tablet. I don't know what to decide. I need a tablet under 20,000 rupees (around 240 dollars). I like the Lenovo Yoga 8. If you have any better suggestions feel free to tell me. I use loads of games and music. i don't really find anything else interesting. i like big screens but 7 inch is also good.
THANKS
