I really hope someone can help me recover a video file that I hope is on my phone. I recorded a video and while in the middle of recording, I believe that the app closed. When I looked in the Gallery app, it was not there. This is the second time in a couple of days that this happened. It has never happened before.

Shouldn't the recording be somewhere on my phone? Maybe hidden? I have the camera app set to save to my micro SD card. I really hope I can recover this file, because I recorded a cool moment that I will never be able to duplicate. Any and all help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Use a file manager app (like My Files) and look in Internal Storage or the microSD card for a directory called LOST.DIR. Look for a file with the right date/time that corresponds with when you were taking the video. Rename it to add ".mp4" to the title, and see if it will play (either on the phone or on your computer).

I found that folder on my SD card, but there are no files in there. Could I use a file recovery program to get it back? Or maybe another suggestion?

I would think that a crash while recording would result in a file that had no end of file marker and that such a file would likely not be caught by an automatic recovery program. No?

Yea, sorry. I should have stated that the folder was only on the SD card. It was not in the internal storage. So, it is sound as though, the recording is lost, huh?

Most likely. The only thing I can think of to try is plugging the device into your PC and seeing if you can find it that way. No guarantee it will, but worth a shot.

Thanks. I will have to give that a try tomorrow.

I was at the World Series yesterday and was able to get behind the Mets' dugout after the game. The players came out to salute the fans. A nice 'Let's go Mets' and 'Thank you Mets' chants broke out. I thought I had it on video... But it is looking like now I don't. Can't recreate that moment now. Oh well.

Your file manager app is set to show hidden files, right? I doubt a file in the LOST.DIR directory would be hidden, but worth a try.

hidden files were not being shown. I set the app to show hidden files and still nothing. oh well, i guess it is gone. thanks for the help though.
