Need bluetooth advice for Incredible-having a tough time.

I was having trouble playing music through my car stereo using BT as it would skip and have drop outs every 30 secs or so. The ONLY thing that fixed it was to turn off WiFi on the phone while in the car.

I have now tried a Plantronics 975 and the Voyager Pro. I didn't like the audio on either one for receive. Transmit is very good on the Pro according to the folks I talked to, but distorted on my listen side. I took back the 975 since it just didn't seem to work well for me.

I have also tried my Blueant V1 and the audio is very good. Although the other side liked the Pro better, but I can hear very clear sound.

I have been disapointed using my favorite old wired Jabra headset. I have used this on 3 other phones successfully the most recent being a Storm 1. But the DI seems to overdrive it sometimes when people speak loudly. The difference between softly spoken words and loud ones is very annoying on this headset with DI.

It is as though the other phones had some sort of AGC or leveling device to limit dynamic range. The DI doesn't seem to, so using another active device, like a BT Headset, seems to be a good idea. I wish there was a way to adjust EQ or audio parameters.

I went with a Plantronics device. We'll see how it works.

thanks for suggestions.

Well, the Plantronics device didn't work well. People said I sounded 'stratchy', etc.

The Verizon rep. even paired the plantronics device with her phone and she sounded scratchy... so we concluded it was the BT device.

However, I believe I may have found one that actually works.... I was at best buy and just basically flipped a coin.

I purchased the Jabra Extreme for about 79.99. I have only used it for one day, but the 3-4 people I talked to said it sounded good, even on the freeway.

It's only been one day.... I will post again if I have problems.

For those who are having problems with BT on the Incredible.... the Verizon rep. said a future software OS update may correct the problem if Verizon gets enough complaints....

Ok, I think I finally found at BT that seems to be working pretty well, so far.

If anyone else is having trouble, the one that seems to be working well for me is the Jabra Extreme.

It was 79.99 at best buy.

still need to hear what BT device works well with the Incredible.

Well, I am not so sure that the Jabra is working that well after all.
I am have been through 3 devices so far, Jawbone, Plantronics and now the Jabra.

it seems to work good, when I am not driving down the road, etc. But, when I am driving, especially on the highway, the quality goes to crap.

Anyone have any sure-fire BT recommendations that are rock-solid on the Incredible ?

Maybe I am asking too much, the phone works great and so does the plug-in ear piece, but as far as blue tooth goes, it isn't that great.

One thing about the Jabra, though, I can play my music through to the BT.

Bummer. I've got the 975 and people are complaining that I sound scratchy and cut in and out too. I was hoping that Jabra would be better. :(

Whipstitch : that is the exact complaint I have had with the Jawbone, plantronics and a little on the Jabra..... people say I sound "stratchy", but I can hear them just fine.

I am still holding out hope for the Jabra. I am going to give it another few weeks to see. People generally say I sound great on the Jabra.

However, when I have recorded vm's to other people's phones, then when I playback the voicemail (before sending it) about 50% of the time the sound quality isn't great.

I am wondering, could this be a software issue on the Incredible ? Like I say, I can hear others great, but sometimes they can't hear me as well.

My plug-in Jabra works perfectly, but I would like to find a BT that works good under most conditions.

I went with the Blue Ant Q1 as it has a work around for voice dialing on the Incredible.

I have stuck with using motorola bluetooth headsets regardless of phone brand. Several models of bluetooth headset have worked well for me with Samsung, Nokia, LG, and now moto backflip. I am a cheapo, so I buy older model moto headsets off of ebay. Just a thought....my needs are simple, I wear one when driving so I can just whack myself in the side of head to receive an incoming call. ;)

backflipperr : have you had consistent success with the BT devices you mentioned on the Incredible ?

The one's I have tried to so far : Jawbone, Plantronics have been inconsistent. The Jawbone was the worst.

Now I have the Jabra Extreme and it seems better than the first two. But sometimes when I answer the phone normally, then switch the bluetooth on.... it says it is connected to the Incredible, but the sound still comes through the device, not the blue tooth.

Question for anyone out there.... do you simply wear your BT device and keep it in the 'on' position throughout the day ?? I usually turn it on and off as calls come in, in order to conserve the battery...maybe this is part of the problem ??

I would love to hear from anyone who has had a solid experience with a particular BT on the Incredible ?????

I have had the same problems with BT's in the past on my BB Curve. It seems like the battery runs down fast and I have never gotten the 5 hours standby time that is advertised.

Any advice from a bluetooth expert - for the best performance on the Incredible ?

I have the most trouble driving on the highway/freeway. My Jabra Extreme seems to work fine when I am not driving.

thanks for any advice.

jason.
