need help before rooting.

need help before rooting.oot my phone, however the lack of service in my work is driving me crazy. I purchased roam control as they claim it works while unrooted, but that's not the case.

Anyways, I have read that if I root the phone I will loose all my stuff. I was wondering if there's a way around that? Thank you.

If you can back up everything to your desktop on your computer.....i created a folder called evo reload...connected the phone to the computer and selected disk drive. On the pop up on the computer screen select open hightlight everything you seen and copy to the reload folder......you'll keep most of ur stuff, not all....once rooted then reverse the procedure if your missing alot of things......apps will have to be re-installed....hope this helps

Ok, I think I will do this today. A few questions

1. Is it true I loose HTC automatic updates? If I can avoid that, how?

2. Do I loose my alarm clock and automatic time? Sorry if is a stupid question.

3. If I don't like it, can I revert to the original state? If so, how?

4. What do I need to root and with what combination?

I'm pretty sure you can't get updates anymore but people will usually always come out with better stuff on there roms out update their roms so that's not much of an issue.

This is a great website to root and put on a custom rom. It even says how to unroot your device somewhere.
