The latest Android update has altered the way pages open when I click a link. Before, links would open in the SAME TAB/WINDOW rather than a new tab. Now, website links that I click open into a separate tab. I installed the latest update 3 days ago on the 26th.

I have this problem in both Samsung Internet and Chrome. Some of the sites I use for work aren't worth a damn having multiple tabs opening up. Within a couple of minutes or less, I end up over well over 20 tabs opened...

Android 9

I would appreciate any help with this please.

Thanks
Tim

Welcome to Android Central! I'm pretty sure that's been normal behavior on Chrome for Android for a while. When you open a new tab and then finish with that new tab, it'll go away if you hit the Back button.

As far as I can tell, there's no option in Chrome for Android that will let you open a link within the same tab. Even if you long-press the link, the options you're given won't include opening within the same tab.
