Need help restoring

phone custom rom is smelkus

ok to make a long story short i bought a used evo 4g with a clean esn. I couldnt activate it cause it was rooted so i was trying to restore a stock rom and i accidently wiped everything on the phone and sd card. Now it only boots up in hboot. I've tried to use the RUU and it starts to do it and says it sends everything to the phone but afterwards i get a RUU failed on my phone. Can someone please help me with this.

Research how to use fastboot
Then sideload a new stock ROM from XDA-developers.com
this will get the phone working again.
Then plug the phone into the computer and manually download the drivers through your device manager on your computer
Then use fastboot again and install the stock recovery and then try running the RUU again

i tried to install unrevoked with there pc app but i get an error. Maybe because the drivers i found for it aren't recognizing the phone. I can't even see the drive in my computer to add files to it. So maybe i just need the correct drivers before i do anything. Can u recommend some usb drivers for htc evo 4g for windows xp.

Drivers are tricky.
I wish I could help, but Id start by downloading HTC sync HTC Support Center
This has compatible drivers in them, But the problem is sometimes the computer doesnt recognize those drivers and doesnt install them, Which needs to be done manually. Search how to use Device manager on windows xp.

i need the correct usb drivers for my htc evo 4g because the ones i have say malfuction or un recognized. Also cant see the phone when its connected in My Computer theres no drive shown for it. Maybe thats why RUU doesnt work fully it cant write to the phone. Also unrevoked would probally work to if i had the correct drivers ive tried many differnt ones even installed htc sync. Can u recommend a download for a driver i can try.
