Hello all,

Currently in the process of switching from a HTC one (m7) to a Galaxy S4 active SGH 1357. Does anyone know of a quick easy way to transfer data, i.e. pictures, contacts, most media content and/or other random phone items

Thanks,
Matt!

I took a look and unfortunately it looks like you can't transfer data from a HTC device to Samsung using Kies. The best way may be to simply connect the HTC Device to a PC and transfer the media to the computer. Connect the Samsung and transfer from PC to the device.

Be sure to sync everything from the HTC device to Google (system settings > accounts > google). If you have other services, such as Dropbox, do the same. There are other apps to backup call logs and text messages; though, not sure if those will restore to the new device.

You could also take a look at MyPhoneExplorer...
Then use it afterwards to manage contacts, notes, media...
And maybe take local backups.
It has a lot of features and is absolutely free (donation model).

^This.
And you could also install a cloud client like Dropbox on both devices and transfer your files via that cloud.

As far as contacts, if you enter them as Google contacts (not Phone or Device, which is the default), they're synced for you automatically. Turn on a new phone, enter your gmail account and the contacts sync by default. (You can also sync almost everything else except files that aren't pictures or music that way. Google keeps adding things that sync through the gmail account.)
