Need help using 3G Hotspot

I have determined that the feature is working fine on my phone. Other phones and computers can connect AND surf via my hotspot. However, MY laptop can connect but CANNOT surf. I show being connected with good strength but I am unable to surf with either Firefox or IE 8.

Some setting in my laptop is causing the problem. Any ideas on what to change? I have no problem connecting to and fully using any other wifi signal...

Do you perhaps have those set up to use a proxy server? If the proxy server is not attached to the same network, you could have a problem browing.

Checked out settings in Firefox....set to use system Proxies. Changed to no proxies, did not help.

When the laptop "first" saw the wireless network.

did you properly configure the firewall settings?

sometimes, the laptop doesn't "like" a network and won't surf it due to a privacy setting.

check the network connections and ensure its set to "home/trusted"

then.. as time goes on.. increase your security as appropriate.

try right clicking on the connection icon and playing w/ those settings.

each version differs ever so slightly.

But you are looking for making it trusted... allowing connection etc etc.

Got it! I had to check a box that allowed other programs to use the connection... thanks for the help folks!
