I downloaded a song from the Google Play Store in the Music section but can not find that file after. I want to know how one can find the file (song) and assign that song as a ringtone after..

You probably can't, it's probably DRM-protected, and in a system folder.

So even if you bought it and paid for it you can access it to assign a song as a ringtone? On the iPhone all the songs are accessible from your iTunes music list.

download Google play music to your pc and download that music file from there.

Google play on Android saves those files to a system folder as far as I'm aware that your not able to gain access to without root.

Just to be clear -- when you purchase a song in the Play Store, it becomes available in your Google Play Music library. You don't download the song from the Play Store -- you download it from your library in your Play Music app. And if you download it using the Play Music app on the phone, the file is for offline use by that app only -- you can't manipulate it yourself. If you want to move the file around, you have to download it on your computer from your Play Music website (as described by dekatch above), then copy that mp3 file to the phone.

yep, but there is also an chrome extension. also they say you can download your music via the chrome extension an unlimited number of times whereas if you download it via web is limited iirc

so get the chrome extension on your pc

I found the Play Music App and found the song on there of which I can just play but have no option to use that song as a ringtone. Basically the only way to do so is to download to from a PC then, right? Many thanks..

Exactly. It's a peculiarity of Play Music which I suspect was originally intended as a way to discourage easy piracy, but it's a hassle.

Interesting... I've been a long time subscriber to Google Play and never noticed that lol.
