Hi all,

I'm new to rooting and i rooted my dinc2 over the weekend. Now i was able to flash roms loaded onto to rom manager (cm7, miui, etc...), but that problem that i have is my phone goes back to stock when i flash something off of my sd card using rom manager. Why is that? Do i have to install manually? I'm trying to use senergy, kingdom, nils, etc...so any advice will be helpful.

Thx.

If you have ROMs on your SD card and ROM Manager won't do it for you, use ClockworkMod and install from there.

Is clockworkmod the manual way? Vol down and power button method?

I got the roms from xda forums, how can I be sure the files are good?

Sorry for newb questions. Just curious.

Requirements:
▪ Clockworkmod Recovery 3.x (3.0.0.7 for Amoled and 3.0.0.8 for SLCD)<<<I have 4.0.0.8, will it work?▪ Radio 2.x (Try different ones and see which works best for you. I am using 05.02)<<<what is radios?▪ hboot 0.92 Required (See this post #635 for hboot 0.92 and instructions)<<<<how to find which verison i have?

So i loaded up clockworkmod and found that i have hboot 6.13.1002 and radio 0.99.01.0225_2. So my question is, will i have to find hboot .92 and radio 2.x for these roms to work?

Yes ClockworkMod would be the manual way. The ROMs you got should be fine, but check through the XDA forums just to check if there were reports with any problems and what not. Whenever you flash a ROM besides the phone's original, there's always risks.

You shouldn't need that specific radio and hboot to flash ROMs either.

....aaaaaand ALWAYS do a nandroid backup first so you can get back to where you were if you need to do so. Have fun!

So i tried to follow this method but there is no "boot" to select flash for

clockwork v 4.0.0.7

-revolutionary-
vivo-w xb ship s-off rl
hboot-6.13.1002
radio-1.09.01.0622
eMMC-boot

Rooted dinc 2 came stock with 2.2 and did the factory upgrade to Gingerbread.
Waited for alpha rev to come out with root method
worked great
after several weeks tried to experiment with custom boot images and now i have a bricked phone
have flashed 100s of roms to no avail. used adb method of pushing flashing
have removed sd card and transferred files directly from pc
all files either way get to sd card fine, but no matter how i flash, i get nowhere.
keeps getting stuck on htc (green letters) white background screen, and it either freezes there or goes back into clockwork recovery console. I know that this is no body's fault but me (knowing only enough to get myself in trouble) but any help from you veterans out there would be much appreciated.

So, it sounds like you can get into Recovery. Did you do a nandroid backup that you can go back to?

If not.... I'm sure you have wiped/factory reset, wiped cache and dalvik, correct?

Probably wouldn't help, but since we're clutching at straws.... have you tried running Fix Permissions?

Have wiped every cach fixed permissions and no i am a moron so i have no backups. Factory reset only power cycles my phone(from Fastboot menu) and from clockwork it says it is and lets me reboot but then nothing. I think im screwed

it seems that i have no boot image. anyone know the adb command to make the directory to flash a boot image to? i can get in through adb console, usb hooks up ok and i am able to get into here

so i have tried flashing everything possible. I am a moron but i am not. I am a moron because i did not use any back up programs, and i am not a moron because if i had i wouldn;t be trying this hard to flash a rom. It seems that i have no boot image. any one know the command and path to create a boot image directory to flash an image to?

I can get in through adb shell as root but am not good with linux commands, especially not with windows 7

also it doesn't help that half of the recovery and images i download are using script base files that clockmod and or my phone doesn't support any more
