Tried downloading it, says mounting failed

what do you mean? dont open the .img leave it compressed.

just move that file into your fastboot folder (adb-fastboot) on your cpu.

if you have a pc, use the toolkit to install the drivers and then try to get the toolkit to restore to stock with fastboot.

[GNex TOOLKIT V7.0] Drivers, Backup, Unlock, Root, CWM, Flash, Mods + MORE [SPRINT] - xda-developers

if that doesnt work, install the drivers, then use odin mode to restore to stock, but itlll save ya lots of trouble if toolkit can just restore you with fastboot. GL

thanks man, I really do appreciate your help. I'll do this at work tomorrow, use a PC there. this is driving me nuts. How could I tell if my phone is bricked?

if it's bricked it wont turn on

it's not bricked. if you cant get it with the toolkit and fastboot you should be able to get it with odin mode. odin's like a fail safe mode, amongst other things.

I'm not keen to this kinda stuff.. after looking at that toolkit, it would take me a good amount of time which I don't have.. I'll try Odin mode tomorrow morning at work. I just need to know where I can find the samsung drivers as in #1 of the instructions

the toolkit is the easiest way to get the drivers installed, or use wugs toolkit stickied in this sub forum, or follow cyber warrior's instructions found here:

aside from that, i dont have a pc and havent used one regularly in ten years, so i'm not the one to walk you thru it, but if you need further help i'm sure someone here will answer any questions you have.

that said, i know lots of people have raved about the toolkits (both the one i linked before and wugs which is stickied here) - they do all the work for you - you basically download, select what you need to do, and it does it.

so, if i were you, i would look into it - its not gonna take that long, especially if you read about it now if you have time, then execute it tomorrow.

Sounds like a plan. I'm reading into it now.. i'm at the part FLASHING A ROM, RADIO OR KERNEL VIA CWM RECOVERY. I'm confused at this point. After going through all of this, what do I do after step 2 in those instructions

my bad above- thats the sprint version. this is the toolkit you need:

[GNex TOOLKIT V7.0] Drivers, Backup, Unlock, Root, CWM, Flash, Mods + MORE [VERIZON] - xda-developers

in the toolkit, you want to do the following, in this order:

install drivers for whichever windows machine youre using (64 bit or 32 bit)

Download Google Stock Image files directly via the ToolKit

Flash Google Stock Image to phone
