Need some Bluetooth help

Hi all, been gone to the dark side for a while and am now back . I've connected my phone to car BT, but I can't get Google assistant to consistently communicate over the BT system. Sometimes it works perfectly. I can hear my text messages being read aloud, reply, etc. Other times when I say ok Google, the screen turns on and I can at read my new text, however it simply shows up on my phone. No voice read out. There doesn't seem to be any rhyme or reason for when it works and doesn't work.

My car is a 2018 Camry if that makes a difference. The phone and audio seem to work fine via BT. There are some Entune issues, but I don't think they are related. Entune is Toyota's infotainment system.

Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks.
PS. Glad to be back!

If the phone and car are more than one year different, it could be Bluetooth compatibility issues. We're getting close, but I'm guessing it's going to be another 5-10 years before Bluetooth is as easy as WiFi - and people still have problems with that (caused by them, not by WiFi).

Thanks. The phone and updated Camry both came out last fall so I doubt that it's a dated technology issue.

The more I played with it this afternoon I think that it might be some quirks within the Entune system.

Being that I am a road warrior, I really need the ability for my BT to read texts out loud and give me a way to reply. I refuse to try and read or type while driving, so I need to figure it out.
