Need some help

I'm sure this was done but when rom manager asked for super user access your hit "ALLOW" right?
same with bootstrap?

At this stage my best advice is pick a rom and find it's forum and thread follow their instructions and if you still have an issue ask for help there.

Rom Manager is cool but i feel like it makes things almost too easy.

What you initially described sounded like what tntdroid suggested, a problem with bootstrap.

+1 Check your Superuser app and make sure everything is ALLOWED. You might have to go into bootstrap and and pick the zip from sd card and flash it from there, but each Rom has it's own way of manually installing. So like the above thread you'll have to find the exact install instructions, here is one for example....

[ROM] ApeX V1.0 for Droid X - An AOSP Experience (10/20/10) - Android Forums

Are you on Froyo? (2.2)

Ok let's try this. Turn off phone and boot into recovery. Hold home and power till u see the android guy. Then hit the search key. Using the volume rocker select wipe data/factory reset. After that select wipe cache. Then select reboot system. Open bootstrapper and click bootstrap recovery. Get ok success. Then hit reboot recovery and let it reboot. Once rebooted open rom manager and select rom apex. Im using this no issues. Once it dl click backup and wipe and let's see what happens.

If I wipe data/factory reset aren't I going to lose everything though?

Yes I am on Froyo. Also, I did allow the superuser app and everything is allowed on it. I just went in and double checked.

anything else you suggest without wiping the whole thing? I have so much on here it would take forever for me to get back to where I am now.

I uninstalled rom manager and reinstalled, along with bootstrap and then reinstalled that.

Still no success :(

I have wiped clean a bunch of times. Back up your contacts. On 2.2 your apps will come back. If using launcherpro you can save your screen layouts. All you really have to do is log into google and set up email. You have nothing to loose by doing this. Nothing worked before so its a wipe an and fresh start or no roms.

I am no expert but here is what I have done while having problems with Rom Manager.

1. You could try using Root Explorer (or any file manager I imagine) and locate the roms you have downloaded from Rom Manger. They will be on your SD card. For me it is sdcard/clockworkmod/download/ and then you find it in another folder in the downloads folder.
2. Once located, move the .zip file to the root of your SD card.
3. Now, Go to Droid X Bootstrap and hit the Bootstrap Recovery. Once it says Success, hit the reboot button.
4. Once you get into the green menu scroll down and wipe data, and then wipe cache.
5. Now, while still in the green menu scroll down to ?install sip from sdcard?.
6. In the new menu scroll to ?choose zip from sdcard?.
7. Now scroll down until you locate the .zip file you just moved.
8. Select it and then hit yes.
9. Let it do its thing.

Hopefully this works. I would also suggest that before you do this you make a backup of everything. (Boot into Bootstrap and create backup) I would also suggest using Titanium Backup to back you apps up with their memory. (Useful for Angry Birds, etc? that have game saved data.)

Running apex should I stick with it our go to rubix focused?

Apex will have a update to 1.1 soon. Will bring back some blur and lots of good stuff. Read up about them both. Just back up your apex rom and flash others. Can always jump back. Good thing you got it running :)

Starting today my phone randomly reboots.

It did it about 4 times throughout the day.

Any ideas?
