need texting app that plays notif. sounds while IN *texting*conversation

Textra does not and the stock messaging app does not. I need to hear when someone replies. Without it,im going to miss replies and leave people hanging. Why did they cut this out?

Downloaded chomp and it also has the same problem. I checked their help topics and im not the only one wanting this.

I can't figure out how to get Hangouts to do that either.

Weird that Textra doesn't do it. I use ChompSMS (made by the Textra people) and it has this feature. I keep it to play ring tone while on call.

One of my must have for SMS apps, chomp and handcent does it definitely and I think but not sure go SMS does

Evolve sms does this. It's a beautiful app as well with a fair amount of customizations
