Netflix for 3.2 no root required

Confirmed. Netflix is working on my Acer Iconia A500 running the just updated 3.2 unrooted. After doing some reading in the forums. I got to this post Got Netflix working on A500?! I do! XD and downloading his link. I sideloaded the apk and BAM. Netflix was up and running. Now the video playback sometimes takes 15 seconds or so to clear up but I'll take it.

Mine has crashed a couple of times when I try to exit the program - but overall, viewing works well enough to enjoy.

now all we need is Hulu+ & HBO Go to work on non rooted A500's and well all be set.

Is there any reasoning from Netflix why the Iconia is not supported *officially*? I didn't read the whole thread, but looks like it fouls up the cameras from reading just the first page.

All: I have been monitoring this topic for /months/ now and it looks like with 3.2 and the Netflix APK 1.4.1 we finally have a fix for my unrooted Acer A500 (despite my OS background, I don't want the hassle of rooting - call me boring):

Netflix APK 1.4.1 Info:
Site: Android Forums & Windows Phone Discussion @ xda-developers
Contributer/Developer: ezterry
Direct Forum Post Date/Links: 2nd October 2011, 05:52 PM and Page 1 and Page 15
His APK File Fix Description: Replaced Netflix APK 1.4.1 references with "A500" and "Acer" and recompiled.
File: Netflix+v1.4.1.apk - A500 hack / md5: 8c5ad0b709c93e2ddef39daba366e663
File Link: Multiupload.com - upload your files to multiple file hosting sites!

Steps (geared to beginners):
1.) If you already have an older version of the Netflix APK (Android Package File for development testing) installed like I did, just drag and drop the icon to the "uninstall" trashcan; as it's an APK, you can't uninstall through the Android Market. Failing to uninstall the older version will result in an install error with the new. As I had not done any file manipulation and/or rooting, I didn't have to do anything with individual files or backing up files.

2.) Use the above link to download the file which defaults to your Downloads directory. Use a free file management tool to access it and run the file; I like File Manager HD (Honeycomb).

3.) Open the Netflix icon on the Desktop, enter your account info, and ta-da, it worked. I don't yet have any opinion on performance or problems, but it works and the posts in the forum are positive. Long term if Acer finally gets an official Netflix app on the Market, I would uninstall the APK and install from the Market.

Hope this specifically helps out unrooted folk that want a simple fix without having to break their brains. Special thanks to ezterry for getting the fix out there.

p.s. Honeycomb 3.2 may or may not be required, but that's what I'm on.
