Netflix is one of the few apps that the vast majority of Android users have been dying to have on their devices. Today Netflix released its first Android app, which will initially be available to a select number of phones. Those phones are:

HTC Incredible with 2.2+
HTC Nexus One with 2.2+
HTC EVO 4G with 2.2+
HTC G2 with 2.2+
Samsung Nexus S with 2.3+

I'm am so happy right now. I can't believe it. Its amazing.

I'm even more glad I switched to the nexus s now!

The app itself is a little laggy but video play back KS smooth and perfect.

Who watches movies on a tiny phone display with bad sound? I guess it might do for an episode of family guy or something but I have never felt the need to watch a movie on a phone.

I do.... Especially when I'm on a long road trip...

How do you get a good enough signal to do that? I drove cross country back in March and could barely get 3G working in alot of places, I cant imagine streaming a movie would work at all. At any rate, way too small a screen IMO. I might try it on my iPad though.

Agree; in my opinion, is more suited for a tablet-like device than a phone. I am happy the app was finally released but will not be downloading it for now - I do enjoy Netflix on my xbox a lot!

I am curious about the new Google movie rental service. It allows you to "pin" a movie (in addition to streaming) and fully download it to your device for off-line viewing - seems quite useful for traveling. Is that possible with the Netflix app?

It's like heaven in my phone, and imagine how pissed I would be if I went for the Epic! Wooo!

Holy crap, the application is honestly ugly and slow as ****, but yes, the videos themselves play perfectly and great quality.

Wow, someone want to go work at Netflix and fix their UX?

I do quite a bit, simply because my kids steal the TV all the time. :)

I hope it's as good as the Netflix on iOS. I have it for my iPod Touch 4th gen (retina display) and it looks astoundingly good and the streaming is uber smooth.

Does anybody get an error when trying to open this saying that the date and time needs to be accurately set on your device? I have uninstalled and reinstalled, rebooted, and I'm still getting the message. It loads the initial Netflix red screen, but then goes completely white before giving me the error.
Any help is appreciated.

I bet Netflix would be a lot more usable if I could keep a wifi, 3G, or 4G signal. This HAS to get fixed SOON.

I have the Netflix app on my iPhone and like watching it and my screen is smaller than the Nexus S. But I can see that it isn't for everyone. I know a lot if people who don't like reading books on their phone either, but I do.

Netflix app working nicely. Scrolling stutters a lot. Playback is pretty but I think it's dropping a frame or two. Not as smooth as it could be, but hopefully it will get optimized over a few updates.
