I recently tested out the new Netflix 1.3 on my Evo Shift. Now, I know that the phone isn't on the supported devices list, and that you can not download the app from the market, however, I have it working on my Evo Shift with no root or custom rom. I have Gingerbread 2.3.3(the gingerbread update), and I was running it on wifi. I haven't tested it on 3g or 4g speeds yet(do not have good 4g coverage :'().

Here's the link from androidpolice.com:

[Updated] Download: Netflix 1.3.0 APK - Working On More Devices Than Listed As Supported (Including Honeycomb Tablets)

Well yesterday it didn't work, but I just tried it and it let's me stream now. I have the ota update also.

Confirmed working on my evo shift nonroot 2.3.3 also. How i did it was i installed the original netflix.apk that was taken off that test phone a long time ago (first leaked apk available). Then it automatically updated to the new apk and works perfect. Goodluck guys and gals.

Can we get some more detailed instructions about how you got it to work?
Ok! Got it! What I did was first install the original Netflix apk. After that, I tried to install the updated version. My phone said it couldn't install due to an error. Next, I backed out, uninstalled the original apk, installed the update, and now I'm watching my Netflix on the go!

Wooooooo I got it to work on my shift....thanks so much...install the original app then the updated one and it will work!!!

Holy smack!!!! Having netflix on my phone was one of the reasons I got my Shift (I didn't know that it wasn't available for it, just the Evo). This and the HTC update to get rid of the soft boot makes me very happy!!!:D

im alittle confused can somone walk me through it step by step

First, go to the home screen>menu>settings>applications and check the "Unknown sources" option. Also, make sure you have ASTRO File Manager or a similar file explorer (ASTRO Market link).

Next, download the .apk to either your computer (you'll have to connect your phone to your computer and transfer the file) or directly to your phone. Finally, open the file using ASTRO and install. If you download directly from your phone, it will be in SD/Downloads, otherwise it will be wherever you put it.

Here's the download mirror for the .apk
