New 3XL getting hot

I just bought the 3XL and it gets hot all the time. I'm going to factory reset it later, which is a real bummer. Just wondering if this is normal for the phone?
For example, I it restarted my phone and it's hovering around 100 degrees. It is pretty much at 100 any time I do anything with the phone. Facebook, using the camera, anything.
I don't think my 2XL ever got hot, but it was in a case and I don't have one for my 3 yet.

Maybe from setting it up ? Just needs to settle in .

Pretty unfair to compare case to caseless, let it settle in, as "stang suggested, and then see where you're at. Enjoy the 3XL, I am very happy with mine.

My 3XL was staying toasty after I got Android 10. It's back to normal after that 3C update.

When it runs hot like that, is there anything unusual in the battery stats? Any app that seems to be using more battery than it should?

Nope. It looks normal. I asked them to send me a new one. I think Google has some quality control issues. I bought the 2 at launch and promptly dropped it. Luckily I bought the insurance so they sent me a replacement. I had to send back two replacements for different reasons.

When I contacted support today, they didn't even ask me to reboot in safe mode or reset it, they just said ok, we're sending you a new one.

That's nice -- hopefully no problems with the replacement!

Got the replacement yesterday and it's great. It doesn't get hot the way the first phone did.

I'm glad I went through with the replacement. I had been second guessing myself but on my way home w the first phone yesterday, it got up to 110 degrees again just playing an already downloaded podcast.
