I purchased a new OEM Samsung battery for my Samsung Galaxy S3 after experiencing some problems with the phone, with the old one.

When it arrived, I turned off the phone & replaced the battery with the new one. I left the phone turned off, charging for over 8 hours - indicator light was green. I then turned on the phone. The battery indicated showed 2% charged, and light was now red. I left it plugged in - it's been nearly 8 more hours - the battery indicator now says 55% charged - after some 16 hours being plugged in, and having indicated a full charge, 8 hours ago (before it was turned on.)

Please advise.

It's more than likely a faulty battery. Check the water indicator on the bottom and see if it's red.

The white piece of paper opposite the charging pins is very clean white. But, Amazon is refunding my purchase.
