New CES Phones

I don't know if anyone has heard, but by mid January we won't be able to upgrade annually anyway. My choice would be between the Thunderbolt and Bionic. Each phone sounds awesome though!

do you think the thuderbolt will be available before jan. 16 cuz i am able to upgrade on the 10th.

ps i currently have a LG Versa aka ****. so i really just need a android either DX or TB. probably DX cause of price wise or Dinc buy 1 for 149.99 and get 1 free. i need the xtra money for rent.

As some of you know, I'm at CES with the SPE gang. The Xoom is cool but fails in 2 ways. 1) it will not launch with LTE support. Customers can upgrade the Xoom but they are required to bring it in to Verizon for a hardware upgrade. 2) the micro SD card slot is not functional until a software upgrade is released. The slot is dual purpose. It is a combo SD/GSM slot for LTE. It was a sweet looking tab, but those 2 things kill it IMHO.

The Atrix is an innovative and interesting device. My question to you guys, is would you use the functionality it offers over a laptop? The laptop dock is cool. It allows you to emulate the Atrix screen and access full versions of Firefox and Facebook, but would you pack around the dock instead of a laptop? I'm not sure I would. It's very much like the Redfly device. If you like Redfly, you'll love this.

Any questions about either of the devices, feel free to post here.

Of my Droid X had a front facing camera, I wouldn't be looking at any of these phones. But I really don't have a significant need to video chat to begin with. So I will be hanging on to my Droid X until something comes out that really wows me. Although it would be nice to have some better gaming.

well cory i am a new android user (on jan.10th 2011 so not yet) and i was wondering do you think you can give me any info about the ThunderBolt as in do you think i should just buy a DX or TB

Nothing about the Thunderbolt today. Check back tomorrow, which should be the big day in regards to news. It will basically be an EVO on Verizon.

Oh and welcome to the world of Android. Best thing that ever happened to me.

Cory do you think they will reveal any next gen galaxy's for VZW or am i stuck forcing my girl to upgrade so i can play with her's?

I'm almost certain they will, and I will be there when they announce them, if I have to land on stage via helicopter.

Awesome, cause my girl for xmas gave me a box with an IOU for the next galaxy phone :D now thats a good girlfriend. Did you find out the resolution on the new screen i was talking with my boss awhile back and he said they were going to make it higher than retena screen.

I had a chance to view the Infuse 4G up close. 1) I think it's too freaking big. 2) The screen is gorgeous, but I didn't get to hold it in my hands and inspect it as close as I would like to have. Tomorrow, when we get some hands on time with the Infuse, I will be able to do some side by side comparisons to see if there really is a difference in the screen technology. I can tell you one thing - I will never carry a phone around that big. 4" is my favorite screen size.

I'm a size queen so  lol. That NOVA display seems interesting but i would love to see the data sheets on that. The claims that they are making about its efficiency doesnt sound right. The different ways of qualifing screens is unfair to the consumer. But either way LG is doing a great job of making giving Samsung a run for their money.

Until I see something that I can root and install custom rom's on that has about the same size screen as the DX on VZW i'm going to sit tight...

hopefully that'll be something from HTC

I am kinda thinking the same thing

Could it be one of those things that seems to big until you get used to it and then it feels just right? I felt that way when I first got a Droid X and then I got comfortable with it and now it seems ideal.

Even if just the brightness rating is accurate it's gonna be an awesome display.

HTC has begun locking their devices down essentially as much as Moto have done... :(

But they are still getting cracked. Have faith in the dev/hacker community. :)

Does the Atrix dock allow you to connect USB devices to it? The only times I use my home desktop PC these days is if I need to print something, burn a CD/DVD, copy pictures from my DSLR, or download something big.

The Bionic looks nice...but I'm holding onto my DX for a while. I have no problems with it. With all these new devices and 4G just coming out....something is bound to go wrong. I'll wait until they work out all the kinks and my DX dies. Nothing is looking too spectacular to make me switch phones this second. I can hold out.;)

Not saying it won't be a great screen but like I said I know for a fact, LGDisplay is dumping obscene amounts of money into OLED technology. So when they get it up and running what will they say ,oh wait OLED is better now, I understand that LGD and mobile are seperate departments but they should really having gone a different way with representation of this display as not to shoot themselves in the foot later. Sorry its just display politics that I'm sure I'm the only one who cares about it lol
