I made it in to work and google searched as I have been: "htc evo release date" and this was one of the first links to pop up....

Sprint Announcing New EVO Data Plans Tomorrow? | Android Phone Fans

Like I said over on phandroid, voice plans are becoming obsolete; I can see them being replaced by data plans all together. I don't see a blanket 4G plan for a service that?s only available to a few. Imagine if you would the Pre, I stood in line for it.... but how many did? It was only sold to us Sprint users, not Spint may charge extra for a service that can only be used by some... who'd buy the phone. I see it being a tragady for the 1st 4G phone in my oppinion because I wouldn't pay for somthing I couldn't use period.

Like I mentioned earlier; data plans to take over voice plans... 5gig cap would be the equvilant of say a 450 min voice plan and the data cap would go up from there and so on.... This would make better sence to me personally. What do you guys think?

Maybe so, but "Store meeting for April marketing updates" == "OMG EVO 4G PRICING PLANS!!!!!" ??? Not saying it's not gonna happen, but, jeez, we're reading a lot into that, aren't we?

If there are plan changes, I imagine it would be to incorporate tethering into the regular plan.

For example -

Everything Data = Unlimited Txt/Pix/Web and unlimited any mobile minutes.

Everything Data Plus = Unlimited Txt/Pix/Web, unlimited any mobile minutes, and 5gb of 3g/4g tether for 20 bucks more per line.

This is the likely course of action.... trust me, I am smart. :)

There are sure a lot more Precentral people around here these days....

I actually think there will be no price increase because 4G is not available in all markets yet. And it would be an epic strategy to pull people away from AT&T and VZW.

I have lurked for a year. lol. Still moderating at PreCentral though. I have a Pre for personal use and a Hero for work.... just waiting on the EVO so I can kick Comcast to the curb.

Why wait for the EVO to kick Comcast to the curb. You might as well get the overdrive to do that. Add an additional line of service for that $20 a month, should be set. They need to have a higher cap however... I put 5GB of data on my comcast account in the past 4 days alone (darn Netflix streaming!!!)

Aren't you reading waaaaaaay too much into things?

I think if Sprint upped their plans just for 4G it would drive customers away. I would think they'd keep plans the same as they are now or even lower some plans or offer some other enticing incentives to bring over At&T or VZW customers.

Doesn't Matter

I really doubt there is going to be much change in the current plans, more like tweaking them a lil. But its also possible there will be an increase in price though considering they will have to subsidize the cost for the network roll out somehow or other. Investors & company exc's expect a return on the investment as well as dollars/cents in the pocket books sooner rather than later. It will be interesting to see how they play this considering they want new subscribers BAD lmao. Anyone else catch what I am throwing? Hahahaha

Talk about crying wolf!

I seriously doubt Sprint is going to do any price increase to their plans until they've blanketed the country in 4G. To increase pricing would be the equivalent of shooting themselves in the foot.

At most they may add a "wifi" fee if you plan on using the EVO as a wifi device.

As long as the simply everything plan does not increase I am good. But if they do that I'll just switch to a plan with unlimited data and a non-unlimited supply of minutes and invoke my employee discount since I work for a place that can get it and pay less anyways. Or I guess if they aggravate me too much I can always try T-Mobile considering they are my last option for major US Carriers.

I'm new to these forums as a precentral member and current pre user til this device hits stores, but I truly think that with 4G being cheaper to deploy and maintain that's where investors will be seeing their return with 4G. I think Sprint will maintain pricing and will most likely add a surcharge for the MiFi connections off the EVO as opposed to upping peoples plans that won't be using the 8 device WiFi feature. But just my 2 cents

I'm on the phone with Sprint right now trying to take care of an issue regarding my upgrade status. Some how they screwed up my account and instead of being eligable in April I'm not good till January 1 2011... WTF....

In the mean time I mentioned the EVO and the lady straight up says "oh yes were all looking forward to it this July." I said really this July sounds about what we've heard, do you have a actual date? She said no we've only heard mid-July.... So here's to having our fingers crossed!

And so the " I was on the phone with a customer service rep and he/she said the Evo will be out (insert date)" starts". and we're only still in March.

Don't you guys ever learn from past experience that they are always the last to know? How can anyone know when it hasn't even passed the FCC yet? They might have an internal target launch time frame, but only a select MOST top senior management team execs know and a CSR is not one of them.

Well two things: 1st your right, it's speculations and part of the fun when coming to the EVO's hopeful sooner than later release and 2nd; Sprint took care of me to the point were my upgrade has been reset to now! How awesome is that.

I'd almost want to answer phones for Sprint just to spread rumors like this. I'd tell every one who asked dates and make them as random as possible.

yea i doubt that Sprint will change there unlimited $70 data plan that they like to brag about against the other carriers. If they kept it at the same price, they'll definitely have a leg up in the carriers race
