New Droid 2.1 Bug Thread--Stay focused!

With over 1100 posts in the official 2.1 update thread, it's near impossible to pull out relevant information, so I'm starting what I hope will be a more focused discussion.

Are people finding the 2.1 update buggy/laggy? (I am!) What are the main issues and fixes that have been identified?

My main complaint right now is that the Gallery app in 2.1 often does not show recent photos taken from the camera. They only appear after I do something else to update the gallery data, like delete an older photo or delete the Gallery data entirely (via Settings > Applications). BOO!

i got the gallery issue to. happens also when i save photos from websites to the sd card. i also found sometimes when getting a call the number shows put on the name of photo right away. did not have this with 2.0.

I have the gallery glitch plus another. My lag in updated photos in the gallery isn't that long. I just have to enter and exit a few times. I've noticed that when viewing a photo and going to the menu option to delete it does not delete the photos selected. Also in thumbnail view long pressing to select photos to delete sometimes does not either. I have also noticed my wireless connection sometimes does not stay connected. It will show connected but will take forever (sometimes never) connecting to a website or YouTube videos. Also my 3g will periodically drop to 1x in a full 3g area (I.E. my apt) and will not return to 3g without restarting the phone. Other than sometimes running a little slow ( no task killer and less than 8 programs installed, not rooted), everything runs fine.

Same problem here with the gallery. I'm getting tired of it. I took 3 pics about 2 hours ago and they still aren't showing in the gallery.

I would have to say since have 2.1 my phone seems to be more laggy this is without running any task killers or live wallpaper. I find that I need to power off the device at least once a week compared to 2.01 where I rarely needed to reboot the phone. I have the same apps etc nothing more then when running 2.01

2.1 definitely more buggy/laggy to me. sometimes it takes my messages and stuff 5-10 seconds before they will come up and sometimes they just instantly pop up. no rhyme or reason that I can figure out. Same gallery problems but it is not all the time. Also the caller ID photo takes a couple rings before it will pop up with the name of the person calling. Im using HL2 and was contributing this to that but after reading all this it must just be 2.1 because it wasnt like this on 2.01.

For those with the gallery refresh bug, after you take a photo, make sure to view the last one taken and hit "Done" at the bottom. Everytime I do that, they then appear in my gallery.

It's not good, but at least it works better than waiting.

Well, this confirms: I have exactly the same pattern of problems. Anyone got a clue how to find out what's up or what to do about it? I'm assuming calling 611 for VZW tech support is a waste of time LOL

Problem solved! (I think...) After reading the discussion "Droid Icon slowdown 2.1 with helix launcher," I switched from live wallpaper to a static one, but have kept Helix Launcher2 running. Problem seems pretty much gone: home comes up snappy, icons and widgets load right up, problems with phone app seem gone.

Remains to be seen if the problem of dropping wifi and 3G are gone, but so far so good.

Same problem here with the gallery. I'm getting tired of it. I took 3 pics about 2 hours ago and they still aren't showing in the gallery.

I'm having a similar issue with the gallery plus I've noticed that videos I've taken are showing up in low quality when launched from the gallery. The preview of the videos also look poor. Also some older pre 2.1 photos show as low quality previews also.

I'm also having the gallery update issue, I have also noticed that my phone uses more battery power during idle now, and will use 20% during 8 hrs at work with the phone in airplane mode, where before it would maintain 100% all the way till after I left work.
