New Droid Razr MAXX

I think I will be giving up my Galaxy Nexus for this. Also, good to know Motorola is pushing ICS to the XOOM which can only trickle down to their other devices.

Regarding the Xoom, the question still remains, will it be ICS, or blurscream sandwich.

Thanks for this. My decision to purchase the RAZR was prolonged in trying to decide between that and the Galaxy Nexus. It was close, and the RAZR won out by a slight margin. I have a colleague who chose the GN and now has 3 batteries to enable him to get in a day's worth of activities without connecting to a charger. I'm sure the GN's battery use will improve with subsequent updates of ICS; however, the RAZR Maxx's purported battery life just upped the ante significantly.

How cool is Motorola for doing that huh? They release the first Droid Razr 11/11/11 with sealed battery cover. Then they turn around a couple of months later and release the exactly same phone, same bugs and all only with a larger battery.

By putting out a better phone? I have no problem with manufacturers improving their products, especially because it's only a bigger battery. I get 14+ hours with my Razr right now. If I really wanted to I would return this Razr and wait for a week to get the Maxx. Since I don't, I won't.

As for Blurscream sandwich which, I can't wait for Moto's version of ICS. If I wanted had to have vanilla ICS, I would have bought the Nexus. Since I don't, I didn't.

It's great to see your concerns for Razr owners but there's really no need to, we'll be fine. On the other hand, I suggest heading over to the Nexus forum and offer them some concern, I'm reading about some serious signal and connection issues they're having.

In other words, the hump is gone and its not much thicker. Crap, I sort of want it now! Oh well, not going to throw money away because of this.

Why wait almost three months to release the exact same phone except for the battery? I'm all for companies making money but, this is a money grab plain and simple. There is no reason they couldn't have released this with the first Droid Razr if this indeed to offer a choice.

Angst I'd guess you'd call it. I'm not feeling that. My battery life was good with the Razr. My battery life will be better with the MAXX. I'd be pleased with either, so being in the 14-day window, I have options. Welcome to mobile phone world where the latest greatest is always fleeting. No matter which technology you choose today, the model that surpasses it has already been designed and is in the test cycle and assembly line at the time of your purchase.

I don't see it as a money grab at all. No one is going to dump a phone that they just spent $300 to turn around and spend $700 off contract. That would be foolish.

People with their Razr will keep it. People who want them Maxx will get it. Personally, from what I have seen on the net, I prefer the smaller size of the Razr. That's why I bought it.

nothing to be upset about..something always is just around the corner. If you like what you have there shouldn't be a problem. If not, be prepared to fork over some cash. If battery use is a issue, you probably should not have bought a razr in the first place.
