New Droid Razr MAXX

I have the GNex too and will seriously consider this when it comes out. Nothing worse than a phone that can't make it a whole day. I can be at 40% by lunch with hardly any use driving to work and sitting on my desk at work. On the weekends when I will be out all day, I have to make sure I keep my phone on the charger until I literally walk out the door, put it on the charger in the car and pray I make it back to the car before it dies.

I agree with the poor signal. I live on a fringe 4G area but with my other phones, TB, Charge, Razr, they all held the 4G signal. The Gnex will be drop to 3G in the same places in my house. I also drop more calls with this phone than the other phones.

Other than ICS which has already been promised and a better camera (motorola cameras suck) I may make the switch and sell my Gnex to offset the cost.

I am returning my GN and getting the MAXX. I like ICS but itll have it at some point and honestly whats the point of a cell phone if you are always connected. I cant wait to have a good performing phone without having to worry about being connected to a charger all the time. Maybe giving up a few features but I think its worth it. Wish we knew the exact weight, thats the only thing I wonder...the razr now is 4.5oz, my GN is like 5.1oz, what will this thing chime in at? Its still thinner with the MAXX battery then the GN not to mention MOTOS proven better signal strength, volume, and speaker phone. My droid pro has great reception....the GN at my workplace sucks. I am looking forward to this phone!! Unless I should wait a week/month for something over the horizon? :)

I dont have a Droid razr so I'm not familiar with smart action functionality. Can I ask what it allows you to do to conserve battery life? Just interested

You are a Nexus user, we can't let Droid Razr information into the wrong hands.:)

Im really impressed they were able to fit that big of a battery in a phone thinner than 10mm.

just went on that Gazelle.com site that does phone trade in's. Right now they offer $274 for the Razr although i imagine that will drop when the Maxx comes out.. considering doing that .

Let's hope the reality Razr Maxx lives up to your expectations. From what it looks like right now, you can expect another Razr, or "better" Motorola product within a couple of months of the Maxx.

You are hoping for ICS on the Maxx, as well. Will it be ICS, or will blur cover up the bulk of what ICS is? What will blurscream sandwich hide, or eliminate that you have right now in the Google version of Ice Cream Sandwich?

So you're telling him not to get a phone he wants because a better one might be released in the near future? What kind of convoluted thinking is that?

As for Blur, the minor changes made by Moto to Gingerbread actually make it better.

Why does everyone think that Vanilla Android is better? If we wanted a GN and Vanilla Android, we would trade the Razr in for one.

Besides, he probably wants a phone that can get and hold a signal.

I am someone who has owned a most of the Motorola droids beginning with the first one on up through the Bionic.

Their version of Blurgingerbread completely screwed up using the micro sd card on the phone. Initially it prevented us from being able to use the card for apps.

In the case of ICS, yes, vanilla is better in my opinion.

My problem with what seems to be an unending line of new phones being released by Motorola so quickly is that I think with each new phone that is released, they ignore the older phones in lieu of focusing on the newer ones. Additionally, rather than focusing on releasing top quality phones with little to no bugs in them, they are instead releasing newer phones while not focusing on correcting the bugs.

As far as the phone signal goes, let's not get into that. The Bionic has had problems with signal and switching since the day it was released. The update that was released a month late for the phone did not correct the switching problem. So even a phone manufacturer that is alleged to have superior radios can't seem to get 4G LTE right.

this is why everyone should get their phones through costco. You get 90 days to exchange your phone.

However, with smart actions i can get 3 days of use on my phone between charges. With the maxx I would only have to charge once a week.

How do u get 3 days of use with your smart actions? I would love to know your settings :)

Hi all. First post. Sending my Razr back tomorrow morning, as I'm still in my 14-day return period. Great phone and my only concern is the fixed battery and how it will hold up to at least 2 years of use. The Razr MAXX sounds like the ideal solution for those of us prone to extensive use of multiple functions during a 24-hour period. The slim design of the Moto Razr is great, but it seems like the Razr MAXX is really what Motorola should have offered as a choice for those of us road warriors in the first place.

Isn't there a 90 day return policy on phones purchased at Costco?

Just an update, I successfully returned my phone to Costco for cash 5 days after purchasing it. The Verizon rep at Costco gave me a bit of a hard time, trying to tell me that the new Droid Razr Maxx only increases the Razr's battery life by 50 minutes per charge. Is this true? He insisted that the Galaxy was my best bet if battery life was my primary concern.

Motorola's webpage for the MAXX is already up and they are touting 21 hours of talk time which i'm sure is in the most ideal conditions. With that being said, even if you only hit 15 of TALK TIME, it will be more than any other 4GLTE phone out now by a long shot. My GNex wont even make it 15 hours total (off the charger at 7am and by 1pm it will be at 40%.

The phone is suppose to come with a 3300mah li ion battery vs 1780mah for the Razr, I'm sure that equates to more than 50 minutes per charge!

That guy didn't want to take the return. I'd be surprised if he knew anything at all about the Maxx other than hearing the name thrown around.

DROID RAZR MAXX - Extended Battery Life - Android Smartphone - Overview - Motorola Mobility, Inc. USA :

The longest battery life of any 4G smartphone ? that's what you get with DROID RAZR MAXX. On one full charge, you can host a marathon (as in more than 21-hour) conference call. Whip through the web for 7 hours straight. Get your movie fix with 15 uninterrupted hours of flick watching. Jam out all weekend. That?s right ? on one full charge, you can listen to music for two and half days straight.

Thanks radyoactive. No regrets here returning the Droid Razr. Now patiently waiting to for the Maxx (hopefully Costco will be distributing it).

I think I will be giving up my Galaxy Nexus for this. Also, good to know Motorola is pushing ICS to the XOOM which can only trickle down to their other devices.
