New Droid Razr MAXX

If nothing else it's good news for those that don't have a razr yet, I'm guessing the price on the droid razr wil drop $100 or so

I agree, it appears as if Motorola just rubs our noses in it....by releasing better products so soon after we are persuaded to purchase the existing ones. Heck, they should create some kind of official 'beta tester' program, since that is what most early adopters do for them anyway! This said, technology moves fast and we geeks are always going to want the latest and greatest and we will ALWAYS feel we were cheated because something better is ALWAYS on the horizon.

I believe this is the phone the original Bionic or Razr should have been all along. With smartphones in general - and especially true with 4g - we continue seeing smaller/thinner/lighter phones, but never to we get the battery life that should accompany such devices. They give us all these features but we have to disable many in order to make it throughout the day - why?!?! What's the point of streaming video when we then don't have enough juice to make calls?!?!?

I would assume Motorola is releasing the Maxx in response to whiners like me, as I prefer a bit more junk in the trunk, in exchange for usability. For those who complain about 8.9mm as "too thick", remember the standard bearer iPhone is 9.4mm and one of the most popular, the Droid X, is 10.2mm. We are getting a slightly slimmer version of a modern Droid X, with better screen and 4g. I'm OK with this......

My razr is going back tomorrow. If for no other reason than to save $100 in a couple weeks.

Gee, wow. Still happy with the Razr. Besides, the Razr Maxx kind of sounds like a, um, type of birth control you can buy at gas stations...I'm so bad. I'm sorry, but it is truly what popped into my head.

If you want the latest and greatest device... PC, or any other electronic device... all you have to do is wait another month or two and you will see a better device. Come on people... do you really think Motorolo or any other company is just going to stop producing better devices after you buy their latest device???

That seems to be the standard "defense" for Android discussion but the point is not about new devices coming out, it's the point that people like Moto and Samsung are revising products and then re-releasing them within a month or so of the first product, on the same carrier. They should've gotten it right the first time instead of fine tweaking some things here and there, or at least creating a different look.

New GN user here thinking about switching to Razr because of reception issues...have rooted and tried many roms, but doesn't do much for me...

Is the < 2mm extra thickness really a big deal for you guys? Would you really spend $100 less for the regular droid with the regular battery? Just wondering.

For those of you saying it lasts the whole day, how extensively do you use it? My rooted GN can last the whole day if it's on idle 80% of the time...

Nobody is asking for the development of new devices to be stopped. But for them to release virtually the same device only with some of the bugs worked at least in my opinion is ridiculous. That tells me they were fully aware of the Razrs bugs and have no plans to fix them.

I wonder which version of the Razr will get blurscream sandwich first. I get the feeling it will not be the first Droid Razr. Just as I don't think the Xoom will receive it before their latest favorite child the Xyborg..

will be upgrading from my bionic to the maxx. the battery life and thin profile is what I need in a phone. Cannot stand the bionic with the extended battery, it's too big

That's how technology evolves... each manufacturer learns from what they sell... if they don't, they don't last long and go out of business.

There is nothing wrong with the RAZR... it's perfectly fine for the stats and hardware it was sold with... otherwise they would not be attempting to sell new ones with different colors.

I like my razr. It lasts a good length of time. Always nice to have a little more batt life but its good enough

This post is a perfect example of someone who has absolutely no idea what the Maxx is and is simply trolling.

First of all there are no bugs worked out in the Maxx that haven't already been worked out with the original Razr. Read some of the sites that have had a hands on with the Maxx, the ONLY difference is the battery. The OS is the EXACTLY the same, the screen is the same, the processor, camera, RAM and everything else is EXACTLY the same. Only the battery has changed.

So, when you consider that the Maxx is the same phone, sans battery, they will get ICS at the same time.

Oh, one more question for you. I have posted a thread about this and have asked it many times in other threads but no one else is able to answer it but perhaps you can. What is Blurred on the Razr except for a few optional widgets? Please be specific and don't just answer that the whole thing is Blurred because that's a cop out. I would like specifics as to what is Blurred.

Have fun with your ancient RAZR. Can you even play Angy Birds on that device? RAZR MAXX all the way!!!!!

LMAO... you apparently can not read my profile that says I have a Thunderbolt... and since Angry Birds and ANY other app I want will run on my poor less than one year old device run just fine... and I'm sure they will run just fine on the RAZR's a dual core 1.2 processor, which will be the EXACT same as the new RAZR MAXX.

Now go back to sleep in your little dream world.

Yeah, I know. I was mocking the ridiculous controversy this has caused.

Bottom line its the same phone but thicker, kind of goes against the RAZR idea.

It is already two months past the release date of the Razr and since it is coming "in the coming weeks", it appears it is at least 3 months later.

I personally like the fact that Motorola comes out with Smartphones every three months of so. That way, when people like me who actually wait for their upgrade date have a new phone to choose from, rather than having to get phone that is already 6 months old, just because the whiners do not want new technology coming out regularly.
