Got my Epic on Friday, and have been having the following general connectivity issues. I'm wondering if these are known issues that the Froyo update could theoretically resolve, or if I might have a lemon and should exchange it:
1. GPS: Same issues as many folks have reported, but I simply cannot get any of the various exercise tracking apps (e.g., SmartRunner, Runkeeper) to work at all. Is everyone having the issues to this same extent?
2. I often lose connectivity via wifi (I have a Belkin N+ router) and must turn off wifi, let 3G connect and complete the request, and then reconnect wifi, at which point things start working again.
3. On wifi and 3G, I often lose connectivity and receive network errors. Examples of when this happens is in the Market app.
If these are pretty much known issues, then I'll wait for the update. If everyone's wifi/3G connectivity is solid, however, I'll exchange the device.
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!
Incidentally, I'm trying out the Epic as a near-term replacement for my Palm Pre (to maybe return after HP Palm releases better hardware and the platform catches up in terms of the apps I need). It's ironic that I'm having these issues--I do like webOS better but can do soooo many more things with Android that aren't available yet for webOS (doc editing, Shazam, Nook reader, visual voicemail, voice dialing, etc., etc.; the list is pretty long). However, my Pre has been rock-solid when it comes to GPS and network connectivity. So, it's a bit frustrating to have these issues with the Epic.
